At the bottom of the main geekhack page you will see "Members: 1,944, Active Members: 836".  Those no longer with us are those who stood between Webwit and another Industrial IBM.

Are webwit's boards and Ripster's boards completely different colors? Or is one of you webwit just a complete tard when it comes to white balance?

Same keyboard. Ripster's colour is white balanced, so that's what it actually looks like.

What do you mean by Olive is missing from the pro version?  Is ripster's really a different one?  He does say it is special, is it a different part #?

And nice boards webwit!  I would guess you are the only person on the planet with 2 of these.

Incredible, I can see why this is such a white whale for everyone.

I might try to find a full size one instead to satisfy my Model M curiosity.

Check the eBay section, there's a particularly nice silver-labeled example for sale from a good seller. Kinda pricey though.

Yep, check ebay for a "regular" industrial model m.  They are also sought after, especially in good condition.  I just happily bought one from the same seller who I highly recommend.  When you get a board from him it will be as clean as any out there.

Welcome!  The good thing is, if you get the right boards they don't lose value so you can buy and sell, trying different models without taking any major losses.  You'll never have problems selling a clean IBM industrial.

Only because I explicitly said I would in this situation, and as a result of you creating this situation...

I would recommend one does not purchase from Brian as a result of quite poor pre-sales support I've received from him.

As they say, "YMMV" and it's the buyer's choice. In the case of a rare item it probably doesn't matter who the seller is.

I hate to sound like douche, but let's face the facts here. The only two people who have issues with Brian O' Neill (and there are quite a large number of people around here who have bought multiple keyboards from this guy, myself included) are a) a guy who never even bought a keyboard from him (Kishy) and b) Wellington1869, a guy who had issues with ... everything, so much so that we kinda stopped listening to him after the ten thousandth Filco rant.

I did some digging around a while back and the only Industrial Space Saving part numbers I've been able to find are 1395682 and 41G3600.  Know of any others?

The overall Industrial list I've been able to find are:
1388032
1390653
1390655
1395240
1394946
06H4173 (TrackPoint M13)
1395682 (Space Saving, custom?)
41G3600 (Space Saving)

Also, any idea what it would take for Unicomp to do a custom run of Customizer/Eudorapro/SpaceSaving cases and/or keyboards in Industrial gray?  I doubt they would reprint Space Saving cases...

This is something I've often wondered. Case colours shouldnt be that hard for Unicomp to do. Might need a run of them though. Send them an email and they'll tell you.

And assuming that the other part number is that one with the blue buttons on clickykeyboards.com, they're the only ones I've heard of. In fact, discovering the existence of the 41G3600 was something of surprise for me.

Not a douche. I make it very clear I didn't buy anything and that my experiences were in pre-sales support (edit: on something that, had he answered my questions sufficiently, I was considering purchasing). Webwit on the other hand has some kind of inability to keep personal attacks out of his statements. I had no disagreement with his post except the last line or so where he attacked my level of class - I don't consider collecting keyboards a "hobby of decadence" but I won't attack someone on the basis of them viewing something differently than I do. Stop making it so easy for me to be the bigger man already.

Now, that's enough about that. I was simply doing as promised and as is only fair and providing the counter recommendation.

I've purchased three keyboards from Brian O'Neil and all three transactions were top notch. The keyboards were in great shape, they were packed well and they shipped quickly.

FWIW even if I hadn't already purchased from Brian I'd be much more inclined to buy from a seller that has a reputation for selling quality merchandise but maybe comes across as terse via email rather than, say, from a friendly seller that misrepresents a keyboard by saying it "sounds like" a BS Model M instead of just popping off a key and giving a definitive answer.

Just my two cents.

And that's why you are a piece of ****. You are hellbound on destroying a small business, Brian's keyboard palace must die, and Brian himself severely punished, because he somehow didn't serve your quite demanding yet non-buying princess ass to your complete satisfaction once. Since you keep repeating that message, because BRAIN'S-MUST-DIE and potential buyers warned and protected from this evil man, I find it funny you complain about the repetitive nature of my retorts.

But the problem Kishy is that you ARE exaggerating.  Brian O'Neill is a fine Ebay seller.  You need to buy more stuff on Ebay to realize that - nobody's perfect, especially on Ebay.

My response may seem "exaggerated" in the sense that it's large compared to how most would respond. That's exactly right, but it shouldn't be...people let too much stuff go, like this dumb kid on the bus who wouldn't give up his seat for the elderly lady with a walker. It took the people around glaring at him before he moved, and even still the lady said thanks - for what, an inconvenience?

However, my claim of what happened is not. I received poor pre-sales support, that's all I claim to have received, and that's all I've told the people who've emailed me asking why I "blacklist" him.

Pre-sales support should only go so far.  If I'm selling something and someone is interested, or if someone just wants information from me, I'm happy to help them, but if it continues or if they want more information than I have the time or interest in giving, then I will move on and give my resources to those who are not overbearing with demands of my time.

I learned this lesson very well from a potential client that milked me out of at least 10-20 hours of free network support over the course of the year, promising he was considering my company for a support contract.  I stopped taking his calls.

Because such is human nature that people are more inclined to listen to criticism rather than praise. Therefore it is important to stress that the criticism is largely unfounded so people don't get the wrong impression.

the criticism is largely unfounded

Not so.

My criticism is that he gave me crappy pre-sales support (which resulted in me not becoming a customer of his).

That is perfectly well founded...he gave me crappy pre-sales support, and you'd have to have a rather vivid imagination to construe it any other way.

It is my belief that you either are a good seller or a bad seller, this nonsense of 5 star ratings on eBay is...nonsense. It's either 1 or 0. If you fail at something as significant as customer service and make no effort to right it then you've got yourself a 0 for the whole shebang in my book.

Again, I did not intend for this to become a 'big thing', so I'm done in this thread. The blame for this topic going beyond a single post does not fall on me - I made a single post and expected, at least hoped, it would stay at that.

In my opinion, for how many Shillings worth, is that everyone should give everyone a benefit of the doubt, then there'll be no hostility. As I recently posted the fact that I also received some negative feedback, I accepted that people are not fundamentally bad. Now to my elation, I am about to witness all Three of my New Years Predictions coming true.
Often outspoken, please forgive any cause for offense.
Thank you all in GH for reading.

All I know is that I hang around with plenty of people like Webwit in real life, so I'm rather immune at this stage.

As do I If it's a spade, I'll call it a spade. In some ways, I like webwit, he says it as it is. In others (Notably the "being cheap issue" as you could probably level the same accusation at me), I don't. But would I hell as like run around and report his posts, especially if they are aimed at someone else. If iMav doesn't like it, he has the banhammer. If Kishy doesn't like it, he knows where the report button is. If you don't like it mswindows, can I suggest keeping out of it altogether?
