NMB RT6855T+
« on: Wed, 21 December 2016, 01:20:41 »
Hello everyone. First post here so I'll try to keep it quality.

Today I was exploring the local thrift stores, and stumbled across a somewhat odd keyboard. At first glance, the NMB RT6855t+ seems to be a standard rubber dome keyboard. Only after pulling it apart did I realize that something quite interesting was going on. It seems as though this keyboard is bolt modded. I'm not sure if this was a mod or if this is how the keyboard was manufactured. Regardless of whether or not this is the default assembly, it seems quite odd that this level of craftsmanship made it onto a rubber dome. Could anyone shed any light on this?

I am not familiar with that exact product number, but it might well be a black NMB Hi-Tek. If the switches are clicky, it probably is ("T"=tactile and the "+" usually indicates the click).

If you remove a key cap, be very careful. They are hard to get off and you need to do it from the sides - not the corners. Also, be careful not to lose the spring or bend any of the delicate "fingers" of the contacts when you put it back together.
From the US Constitution, Article 1, Section 8 :

The   Congress   shall have Power
To declare War,  grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;
To provide for calling forth the Militia  to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

That's an NMB dome with slider board innit? Those come with bolts by default iirc. Decent switches too.

Oddly enough, it's not a space invader nor is it even a rubber dome with slider. it's just a straight up green rubber dome. I have to say, it is by the the best rubber dome I've ever used.

Can you give a picture of what it looks like under the keycap?

A few more images:

Not entirely sure of the purpose of this copper bar, but the steel plate, and assembly lay on top of it.

The keycaps are dye sublimed PBT

It does also appear to have N-Key rollover.

So, rubber dome *without* a dedicated slider.

Yep. Makes the build quality on this seem quite out of proportions. This is probably the sturdiest keyboard I own, and somehow it's a rubber dome.
