Hi friends! I worked with Lin a lot last night. We'll have new renders coming your way soon. Oh, I designed the tags for each keyboard as well, so you can see that as well. :) Once we get these renders finalized, I'll post them up!

Any chance of a brass switch plate being offered?

Can't wait to be disappointed by not winning :D .

I've got one hypothetical question about the raffle. If Person A and Person B both enter for both the EM.7 and the Dolphin and Person A gets a spot for a Dolphin and Person B gets a spot for a EM.7. However Person A likes the EM.7 more and Person B likes the Dolphin more. Would they be allowed to trade their spots so Person A gets the EM.7 spot and Person B gets the Dolphin spot before it shipped or would they have to privately trade them(and pay twice for shipping, etc)?

Raffle invoices will probably go out about a week after the drawing. If the above case does happen, Person A and Person B need to contact me and I will do what I can to make something like this possible. However, this case does bring up an interesting topic, which you will all see soon!

Not sure on colors yet. He's still working that out. Don't quote me 100% on this, but I'm fairly certain that the winners of the raffle may design their board with the colors they choose (within the given options). So, you'd be able to choose blue top, silver bottom, etc etc. When I hear about colors, I will update you guys :)

Totally agree. They are so unique and nicely done.

Know there aren't a ton running around, but does anyone have impressions of using the EM7? I've never tried an ergo board before, but this one would be awfully tempting (with RNG's blessing). Just like any other layout change- couple of hours working to get used to it and they you're all good??

I like the idea of a geekhack edition group buy, but I'm not sure I like adding more words other than the model name.  Is geekhack edition machined into the keyboard or is it an optional badge that you can stick on?

Maybe it's me but I dislike that Dolphin text but instead prefer a logo like the Whale keyboard (which I really like it for some reason). Any chance to have the option to remove the Dolphin text?

Other than that, I quite like the design. Definitely will join the raffle :)

Same here - would prefer to not have any additional messaging beyond the model unless it's customizable?

The renders make it look like Dolphin has it etched and EM7 has a badge.

I absolutely love the Whale logo.  If there was a Dolphin logo in the same style I would be ridiculously excited.

EM7 is basically carved out so lights below can shine through it. Dolphin as well as geekhack edition are both machined into the top case, I believe. I will get confirmation on this from Lin. I believe Lin would like to keep the geekhack edition to differentiate from other models. I will talk to him and see what we come up with.

Thanks! Branding on the bottom would even be preferred over on top. The design is so clean and having anything besides the model on top would be tough to pay for.

I have to agree with cynviloq.  I thought the Dolphin was different because it was a combination of V1, and V2 features.

Since these Geekhack edition boards will be limited and there is a need to visually differentiate them from the previous ones: instead of the "Geekhack edition" text, how about engraving numbers (in the same location) as binary strings (17/30 -> 11000 11110) or having them written in Hangul (which is rather exotic for us international people)? Just throwing out an idea here.

The issue of engraving it into the board is that each board is going to be different, which would require a lot of work and therefore extra $$$. That's why boards typically have tags, I would assume. I like the idea, I'm just doubtful it's viable.

EDIT:

Would you all be happier with the tag saying "G.H. #17" (GH and # of keyboard) and removing the "Geekhack Edition" text?

Yes. Personally I think having "G.H." capitalized looks more aesthetically pleasing, but if the people would prefer "g.h." I'm sure the change could be made.

I like the dolphin tag, and i would prefer lowercase geekhack logo.

That would be cool, but isn't geekhack all lower case?

Yes. Personally I think having "G.H." capitalized looks more aesthetically pleasing, but if the people would prefer "g.h." I'm sure the change could be made.
I would say the diferentiate number in the back / bottom case and leave the top same as render ..
Everyone shall recognize "geekhack edition" as V2 of Dolphin

The differentiation can't be on the back or bottom of the case because the bottom case for both keyboard is the same. It must be on the top. Btw, v3* ;)

So when is EM7 coming out? :D
I do not have to participate in dolphin/kokkiri GB to be entered into a raffle for a chance to buy EM7 right?

Can I just enter the EM7 raffle?

EM7 and Dolphin raffles will begin on the 20th and end on March 1st. I will draw the winners on March 4th. You can enter each drawing separately.

I will enter EM7 raffle for sure. Any hint on.. what time? I'm sure some folks are PST based while some are MST/EST based.. will raffle close once it meets certain number of people or will it be open for a set period of time on 20th and March 1st?

Thank you! :)
