It all depends on how thorough you want to be. I will admit that once you get the hang of it, its really not a big deal to desolder a board, do your due diligence with the switches (oil, lube, sticker, spring swap) and solder it all back together.
However, i understand that its a little daunting for some people and its time consuming. There is another option that I guess people frown upon for some reason or another but I have done this, and its totally fine if you're careful. Your main contact points are the sides of where the stem "rides" the sides of the switch base. Thats where you will get the impact of lube. And as you use the switch, the lube will smear around and spread out so really you just need to get a tiny bit in there and it will work itself out:
What you need:
1. Tiny paintbrush (i bought a set of cheap #1,2,3 synthetic brushes from the craft store just for doing silly keyboard stuff)
2. Good lube. I use a 1:1 mix of Krytox GPL 100 oil and GPL 205 grease. This works for me.
3. Paperclip or similar.
4. Steady hand.
