Polycarbonate and/or Acrylic plates
« on: Mon, 27 March 2017, 15:04:53 »
Anyone know where I can get a clear Polycarb or Acrylic plate for 60%? The clear ones on mekanisk are sold out :(

Finally picked up a GH60 (revC) and I want to show off its beauty :)

I would love to see it! I'm also looking for a good plate.

I was checking out pricing on Big Blue Saw.  Man, the pricing takes a huge drop at 5+ orders.

For single orders, it looks like clear Polycarb at 1.5mm would be $90.  If you go up to 3mm or 5mm it is $92 (if you can order 5+ pieces it goes down to $37!)
For single order, Acrylic at 1.5mm would be $45. 3mm and 5mm cost roughly the same.  (5+  units drops the price to $26)

I don't like the idea of paying the price of aluminum for plastic, but I'm going to think about it for a while.  This seems like a perfect opportunity for a GB, but I don't have the time to do anything like that.  :(

Check to see if there's a local CNC/machine shop that's willing to do it. I'm sure someone here can provide you with the template for it; just ask questions first, ask about tolerances and price everything out.

Unfortunately I live in a small town and there aren't and services available :(
