New Tada68 on the way!
« on: Mon, 07 August 2017, 17:14:52 »
I just ordered my self a Tada68 with Gateron Blacks as those looked as close to cherry clears as I could get. I bit nervous as never ordered anything from overseas. I ordered this from KBDFan's but from what read I can't find anything negative about them. They seem to be a pretty up and up company. I was going to order a Saber 68.. but the fact I could get a Aluminum case pursued me to go with the Tada. Whats your guys thoughts feed back and how do you like your Tada68? Also any keyboard candy to look at? Ones that have custom switches etc to show off. How do you feel about KBDFan's have you ordered from them before.

I guess just trying to assuage my worries. I ordered a Race3 not long ago with mx blues and one of the switches was broken. Returning it was easy but with a oversea's order returns most likely won't be so simple!

I've ordered a few things from KBDFans and it's been a good experience.  Shipping takes awhile as you'd expect.  I never bought an assembled keyboard though, so can't comment on the build quality firsthand, but I've heard they're good.

If you end up not liking the switches you'd probably get pretty close to what you paid if you sell it on /r/mechmarket.  That's a pretty popular keyboard.  So don't worrry!  And congrats on your purchase.

You just dished out a pretty penny on a new 'brand' in a foreign land. If you try and get in touch with them, you most likely won't hear anything back. You'll think "Oh god. Did I just bamboozled?"

Then, a few weeks later when hope is lost, your shipping notification will appear.  Phew!

For the price, you still think it'll be a mediocre kit. There isn't very much info out there on these guys and it was a gamble.

It'll arrive, and you'll be so very pleased lol.

The keyboard comes very neatly wrapped and very secure. The case comes in a custom formed foam-like foundation, PCB & plate come in a very thick plastic ziploc like bag, and it's all organized. My KBD75 case is very well made, and built like a tank. It's super heavy duty and I love it. My build is amazing for gaming but I wish I bought a second & used typing-friendly switches :)

Relax. You're in for a treat!

You did a much more thorough job than me of reassuring him!  I'm going to call you when I'm stressed about something.  You're like the Good Guy Greg of keyboards :)

Thanks guys! I am really excitied cause the Tada/Saber 68 where keyboards I been grappling with getting for a month now maybe. Internal debate on why I shouldn't why I should. How I spent to much money already! Then its like you know what YOLO! I want another Cherry MX Clear board... but good luck finding that in a 68key config! so I went with the Blacks as from what I have read there close to cherry's. Tiny bit lighter then MX blacks! and I like liner switches better then Tactile! So its like getting my cake and eating it to!.

Curiosity as it sounds like you guys might know. Does paying for Fedex express shipping speed up the process any? I only ask cause I paid the extra figuring it was a better bet then free shipping! Special if the free shipping was going to be something like sure post which is terrible.

Gah that keyboard in that picture is drool worthy!. That thing looks amazing! I have a kit like that on order with Massdrop! its a Teal case/plate with Kaihua Kailh speed copper's cause felt like doing something unique!. I am really excited! just gotta find some caps hopefully teal to match the the case!

Update:

Keyboard came in and its perfect! The Gatron Blacks have me wondering why ever used Cherry switches ever. There just way beyond smooth. They feel like typing on butter or clouds of air. I am so impressed. The keyboard its self was packaged extremely well. I am really pleased and the service was very fast. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from KBDfans again. The keyboard was everything I hoped for and way more. I was hoping for a decent quality board and ended up with something that surpassed even my best expectations. There nothing about this board I don't like. Wow I had to type this cause needed a reason to use it..

Glad you like it!  Gat blacks are my favorite switch as well.  Although I've heard that the new tooled cherry blacks feel similarly smooth.  Haven't tried them out for comparison.
