Terminal Space Savers 1392980 - Controller Swap?
« on: Thu, 01 April 2010, 11:14:49 »
I have two 1392980 Space Saving Terminal Ms, and have been looking into a method to get them outputting AT or PS/2. From what I've read, it seems that Kishy's terminal hacks might work, or that I could optionally swap out the controller from a PS/2 model (although I'm unlikely to find any donors).

Can a normal M controller function inside of a space saver?

I may just keep them boxed until a USB board is available.

Here are some pics for the curious:

Cable hack has been confirmed as theoretically possible before. Not sure if it's been done.

The Koreans have theirs in USB as well.

With your cable hack, can I cut of the RJ45 and replace it with PS/2, or does the whole cable need to be replaced?

RJ45 cable is carrying the same signals, so yeah, you could just chop off the RJ45 end. Verify the pinout by tracing back to the header on the PCB before connecting anything to anything.
