You've quoted me above, but I can confirm I've used holtites on quite a few PCBs with the pre-tinned pad method with excellent results.
When pushing them in fully with a dry, hot soldering iron (400-450 deg is good), often there will be a "pop" when the solder melts and the holtite drops lower. This "pop" can cause other loose holtites in pads to come out and fly everywhere. So my method is do one switch at a time, insert two holtites, finger on one (to stop it popping out) while pushing in the other one.
