Have been busy for these days, launching a trial or small scale group buy in China. by now, 10 units sold at ¥1588 (around $250). Many friends can't accept with just the case, they hope PCB and plate included in the box. and there is a  problem might killing the PCB compatibility, this design is too thin that there is no enough space below the PCB, only 2.75mm height there. those PCB with a DIP switches or components higher then 2.75mm below it won't fit this case. ???  wow, there is a long way to go.

Anyway, here are some new photos, hopes you will love it.

THX for the info sharing, I like the streamline design so much.
Would you consider to offer retro style powder coating like Norbauer did?

ah my mistake

i was talking about the names of the actual powdercoat colors on prismatic powders, not in norb's usecase

since i search for everything on there i sometimes get a bit lost with norb's color names

I would deffinetly take one (maybe two) if there is only aluminum.
I would take two if there was plastic (like 2 plastic, or one each).

I am loocking foward to seeing this happen!

Just a question:
If the case is already a 2 piece design, why is it still standoff mounted instead of mounting the plate to the top case? Usually standoff mounts are for 1 piece cases that can't be mounted any other way.

I'm going to guess because of the usb daughterboard due to bezel size to keep it compatible with standard 60% pcb's.

How does one mount the center USB? This is a cool design and I like how unique it is. I Just can't for the life of me understand how the USB portion is meant to function. Also would this use standard size plates? Are would you just go plateless? Once again love the unique design this is really cool and not something you see every day if ever.

Looking at the trial run and it looks really good!  :thumb:

If I may add some suggestion, looking at this photo:

192593-0

I think it is better to use the bezel width pointed by the green arrow instead of the one pointed by the violet arrow (see below image for reference)

192595-1

As I think the added width will give a more balanced looks compared to bezel on the left and right side.

Agree with this, and I think reducing the top just a little more for balance too would look ever better.

It still looks amazing though.

[..] reducing the top just a little more for balance [..]
IIRC reducing the top isn't possible because the case is quite flat and the design of the PCB and/or (?!) USB daughter board would need to be changed.

+1 the top is to tall and there needs to be spacing at the bottom.

I personally don't mind the thicc top though, I even prefer it thicc as it is literally the homage to G80-1800 IMO.

It is in some way the main part of this design, the thing that really stays in mind. Without the big top bezel it'd be more like a dozen others..,.

I like the thick top it was the thing that made me even take a second look at the case. I don't think the bottom is to thick either! I kinda like the case overall as is from the photo! I am just wondering about price. That would be the major factor in if I want to buy in or not.

The bulky top is good as is. Maybe add a millimeter or two of spacing between keys and the bottom wedge, but OK as is too.
Current:

Coming up:
    G81-3000 [Box Navies] Handwire

Definitely agree with this. I think making the bottom more consistent with how the G80 alphas are spaced away would also help balance out the top. It would take it from ok to perfect :)

Agree, not to much though, 2/3 mm is prolly enough.

Edit: any idea on timing by the way? Good chance I'm gonna join this stuff, want to know when to get excited :P

Just a little on the bottom would be great, otherwise this is one of the sexiest 60 cases I have seen in a while. Awesome stuff!

I know a lot of people like the existing bulky top, but I would be much more into it if it was "functional" somehow. It's something I don't understand about the original design, either.

A lot of people start to panic when I talk about having an indent or lip for holding a pen, but I personally think it'd be a major usability improvement for *any* keyboard, and could justify the large top bezel even on a small desk.

Another alternative could be indicator lights, or a cutout for a nameplate that the user could replace with an OLED or something.

But nobody else probably wants those things... :))

I'm saving for this and I say your original, simple design is just right for me. I don't see a need to change the wedge to 1800 style either.

Lovely design. Though I feel that with that top piece, it would be much better to have a top/sandwich plate as compared to tray mount. But I guess that would be more cost and also harder to get plates for the board, so it's a tradeoff.  :thumb:

Same!
After all it's supposed to be a 60% adaptation of the g80-3000, so that's exactly how I expect the case to be! :)

This looks fantastic, it might be the only 60% I'd buy.

Do you have an estimate for how much it'd weigh?

What usb types will this support? Would definitely get one if its not too expensive and has typeC.

The cool thing about having a separate USB board is being able to switch between USB types, ideally

Also, Cerakote options would be cool.
