Anyone know anything about this board? Cherry KB5160
« on: Tue, 27 April 2010, 16:26:06 »
Hey I finally found a board after I found out a guy at my church used to work with computer terminals wayyyyy back. Anyways, so I picked it up and what I found was a green alps switch, and also Chinese lettering. The layout looks pretty odd, can anyone even date this board? It's a Chicony KB5160AT. It would also be nice to have a price for this thing.

Also, can anyone price a cherry AT G81-1800 for me (MY switches)
It's in pretty much mint condition.

That's a Chicony KB5160, not a Cherry. The adapter should work, just as any other DIN-to-PS/2 adapter.
Beautiful item. I can't tell a price, but I think it's rather valuable from a collector's perspective.

Unless things are very different in the US than in Europe, the best you can expect for a G81-1800 is free disposal.
Typing on blues.

I'd say a few bucks for the keycaps (old ones should be either doubleshots or dye-sub, fine either way). Those should be a decent fit for a MX11800.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

I am keeping an eye out on G81-1800s for a white case and white caps for my 1863.  I will probably only be able to use the top half of the case for the mod since the 1863 has a USB hub on it, but I like the all-white/gray look.

I have white keycaps and black lettering on mine (I think it's double shot, might be dye) and in pretty much mint condition.

EDIT: yeah i'm almost sure they're double shot
