I'm looking for an amazing smooth linear switch, rather heavier version. Just to mention, I'm a 55g topre lover.
Which one of these would it be?

I had mx blacks and felt scratchy. I just tried gateron blacks and difference is big.
Haven't tried vintage or tealios.

Which would be the smoothest?
Maybe I should get gaterons and swap springs to something heavier?

Lubed tealios are probably the smoothest our of all those listed, but I have swapped springs so dunno about weight.

I currently have all of these and lubed tealios are the best. Lubed Vin Blacks close 2nd.

Having boards with all of those, for smoothness I'd say tealios.

Lubed tealios with 72g sprit springs and cherry top housings (for lower pitched bottom out) are my favorite, close second are lubed blacks. The top housing swap is unnecessary but I found it made no real difference in smoothness.
Even though they are not as smooth, there is something about the less scratchy blacks that just works for me. A lot of people go with 68g springs or so in blacks, but if you like heavier switches anyway the stock springs are good.

unless you want to spend a lot of time cherry picking vintage blacks tealios are by far the smoothest you have listed

Thanks guys.
Do you think I should lube those tealios? Or could I just use as they are? I never done lubing so dont know if it makes a huge change. Dont want to lose on switch weight/feel with lubing. I image that lubed are smoother but also feel lighter? Or not?

I thought the sound of my tealios went from high pitched and not too great to a much more pleasant and lower pitch / quieter noise after lubing with 3204. Putting lube in the bottom housing area where the stem lands had a big impact in that sense. Definitely worthwhile.

OK, so if this is the case, what lube should I buy for Tealios?
Also, I would need to know guys where exactly should I lube them. Where, how and how much....

I'm going to resolder them on VArmilo VA69M, so I need to decide either to lube or not before I mount them on.

Very curious what the force difference to bottom out is between Tealios and MX Blacks. I'm definitely considering Tealios on my next build.

Lube them. I use 3204 on all of my switches. Some people prefer gpl205, it's a bit thicker.

Make sure you get a good coat on the parts that contact the internals - front, back, sides especially, and the legs. If it appears milky you've got about double what you need on there.

You should lube the springs with a lighter oil, but 3204 works okay here too, just use very little.

Edit: use a brush if you can. Tub lubing takes a bit of practice. I use cheap makeup brushes from Target - 1 to 3 dollars a piece and they can come as fine or broad as you need.

Depends on what era MX Blacks you are talking about. New (pre-retool) MX Blacks bottom out at ~83g, Vintage MX Blacks are closer to ~90g (which also varies a bit). Retooled MX Blacks are ~75g :thumb:
Tealios bottom out at 67g.

Explains why the switches off of the top board feel so much heavier. I didn't realize this.

OK, so decided to buy Tealios v2.
Why are they so expensive? $1 per switch.

They used to be (v1 regular and v2 GB) 0.75 which was on the steep side already. $1 is too much for me and I won't be trying other variants of v2 like I did with v1.

That reminds me, I should try Gateron Yellows. I can't see myself ever being a regular Tealios user. Too expensive. Then again, I could just stop buying more keyboards.

I'm glad I like retooled blacks. Lubed with Sprit springs, that is.

I have some that are ludicrously smooth, like ethereal. But in general they vary so much batch by batch that it's basically just worth getting retools or Tealios unless you really want to hunt down something special.

Now I need Varmilo VA69M to resolder it.
Once I get it done, I will report back on how smooth those Tealios v2 are:)

OK, I'm typing on my VArmilo VA69M with Tealios v2 right now:)

After I got Varmilo keyboard I bought desoldering stuff (pump) and I desoldered it on Saturday, then yesterday I soldered Tealios on it. I had few ugly issues with it, as it was my first desoldering project, but with help of our forum member (thank you suicidal_orange !!! :) ) I got it working.

I just have joined the drop for XDA Canvas, which will be shipped in August (that waiting...:() but for now I put on SA Penumbra on it.

So, I have to say that from all MX swithces I tried (black, brown, green, blue) - Tealios v2 are amazingly smooth.
I am a Topre lover, all my baords are Realforce and Novatouches. after I tried so many other MX boards, I couldn't find similar MX switch to match the feeling of Topre. I think you cannot get this amazing feeling of Topre from any MX switch. Period.
However, as I don't really feel the tactility of Topre, only thta funny bump when pressing it, I thought I could go for MX linear. Black was so scratchy after few hours of typing, that I stopped liking it. Then I got Gateron blacks - those made so much difference. However, I didn't like how those were wobbly. I don't know why but didn't like it, plus I always heard about Tealios being so smooth. So I finally ordered Tealios and re-soldered a board.
Now I have to say if someone wants really amazing smooth linear switch, Tealios are the way to go. I love it. I also have to say that 67g isn't a lot, my Topre 55g feel heavier than these. I think the whole smoothness of TEalios make this 67g to be so soft.
Great feeling...

Thank you guyys for your opinions and suggestions, I'm happy that now I can tell that apart from Topre, I also like MX switch - Tealios:)

I think the perceived heavier weight of the topre 55g switches is due to the weight being forced up higher. Your Tealios will actuate at a lighter weight I think, but will bottom out heavier. You can't really tell with the topre, though, because you're already applying more force to get over the hump.

You all should try Gateron Inks.  Very close to tealios.  If they were both lubed I don't think you'd tell the difference.

I sat out during the first drop because they were a good bit more expensive than I was thinking they would be and I didn’t want to blindly drop that much cash. Now, I’ve been checking everyday to see when they’ll be back. They said March.

Gateron inks? Never heard of those. Need to check them.
However, I gotta say - Tealios are amazing. Now I have a feeling that this must be how MX reds feel like, so easy to press.
Or it could be due to my caps on them - SA. They always are easier to press, I think...
I wonder how XDA will feel on them.

Yeah inks are great. Novelkeys has some in stock right now.

How do FEI match switches compare to vintage/retooled blacks, tealios, and gateron inks in terms of feel and sound?

With me, Vintage Black is the best linear switch ever.
It's balance between wobble, smoothness and scratchy.
Both Gateron Black and Tealios wobble very much because they're manufacture by Gateron, a company that's famous for their wobble and smothness.
I appreciate Gateron Black and Tealios for their smoothness, but overview, Vintage Black is still better by many ways.

I personally think that overall smoothness is weighed too heavily.  There are multiple factors that make a switch good or bad.  Wobble, sound, and smoothness all play a factor in how good a switch is.  I find that for me personally, there is a threshold of smoothness where it is only detectable when playing with a switch and intentionally actuating it very slowly to feel for any imperfections.  In a real world scenario, whilst typing, the difference becomes negligible after a certain smoothness.

I love how smooth tealios are, but the sound just isn't quite right.  It isn't a bad sound, but I'd prefer the sound from vintage blacks.  I'd trade a more satisfying sound at the cost of a slightly less smoooth switch any day, especially given how smooth vintage blacks can be.  I think that both vintage blacks and tealios are smooth enough that when typing, I don't really notice a difference in smoothness, and are probably beyond the that threshold where I can no longer feel a difference.

Stock Gateron Yellow > else.
I agree that stock gat yellows are amazing for the price.  The springs in those are wonderful, and they're quite smooth out of the box!  I think they do improve with lube, but they're a great, cheap starting point for linears.

If I've got to pick a favorite linear switch, it would definitely be my RRE blacks.

Well, I've been using that keyboard with Tealios for a week now and I noticed one thing. Compared to Topre, these SA caps on Tealios are very wobbly.
Maybe this will be better with lower profile, like XDA...

I thought I'm not gonna open new thread, just use my old one, same subject anyway...

After over a year of using Tealios on different keyboards, I thought I could try something different.
I ordered Glorious Holy Pandas, to see if those will be something I will also like. Will see.

However, now when i gathered all items for lubing Pandas, I started wondering if I could maybe mod my Tealios.
First, I'm thinking on swapping springs to something heavier. I know Tealios are 67g, but this is bottoming out, so actuation force is lower, these are pretty light for me.

Did anyone here modded their Tealios? What springs should I use? 78g maybe?

Second thing is lubing the springs - tealios have that annoying ping noise I want to get rid off.

I saw many bag-lubing with Krytox 105 oil videos on YT, but some people mentioned that using oil may end up having a wee oil pool at the bottom of switches with time. I don't know if this is true or not, but would lubing just spring ends with Krytox 205 as someone suggested to me be better solution?

Please let me know what would you suggest - spring weight and lubing.

Ok, I have some questions to ask you about modding then:

When you say too light, are you fine with daily-ing the current weight, or do you really really want to get a heavier weight?
I'd get TX 75g if you want something heavier than 67g.

I use Superlube multi purpose grease on springs. It does wonders and it can make them shut up with only a little bit of grease ^_^

Good question - answer is yes, I like heavier ones :D

This is, Tealios are fine with GMK, but most of my collection are SA and other high profile caps. These are not that great on Tealios, go down so easily.
I'm a Topre lover, I used my 55g Topre for last 7 years.

I also have Cooler Master QuickFire Rapid with MX Blacks - these are scratchy and everything, but they feel better, more force needed.

I don't know... I definitely gonna lube their springs, but if I need to swap them? Hard to say. It would be nice to have a bit more resistance.

I understand that spring weight is not bottom out, but actuation force - which one is heavier?
For me 67g Tealios feel like MX reds...

Lube wise - I have Superlube, I use it for stabs. I could put some on both ends of springs - would that be enough to shut them up you saying? :)

If you want good spring tolerances then I would use TX 75g (what I would use in your case) or 80g (Cherry black weight)

Yes you can lube the ends of the spring with it

Hi please keep us updated. I'm in a similar position as you. Bought some linears and am trying to decide if I should change the springs... I'm very used to 55g topre as well.

curious if the ping was resolved after you lubed them? (not sure if you lubed them based on your response after receiving them)

I'm about to pull the trigger as well on picking up some tealios v2s w/ 3204.

Anyone have advice for what films to use?

I have just the one Telios V2 and I lubed it, I can confirm it reduced the ping by quite a lot.

I'm hoping my build arrives before the weekend so I can get started.

I've tried Tealios and don't really see the appeal, so far prefer my lubed Gat Black Ink v1's over Tealios.  But I can say the ones I did try were smooth but just weren't it for me.
