Help identifying an IBM Model M
« on: Tue, 26 March 2019, 10:40:35 »
I am trying to figure out if this keyboard is a proper IBM Model M or not, or, more specifically, which subtype it could be. Does it haver the proper switches etc.

Can that be identified from the info on the label? It looks like a "normal" Model M.

Any help much appreciated!

If the model number starts with "7" it is a rubber dome. That is also true with M2s.
"We are on the precipice of signing an agreement to advance talks with Iran that preserves the good parts of former President Barack Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) while amplifying its flaws.
Mr. Obama came to an agreement that did not involve America’s most precious treasure, the lives and limbs of our soldiers.  The 1.7 billion dollars of frozen Iranian assets released by Obama pales in comparison to the 300 billion being floated as a rebuilding fund.
So far, speculation that Iran will be free in the future to continue its nuclear program is the opposite of Trump’s stated goal for the war and in direct opposition to what Mr. Obama negotiated.

71G indicates a rubber dome variant.  It does not have clicky keys.

Thanks for the replies.

What are peoples opinions of the dome versions in general? Are they still high quality or is it another tier compared to the classic mech switches?

They are nice keyboards, many of the components are interchangeable with standard Ms including the case and metal backplate, and, if I remember correctly, the barrel plate, but, unfortunately, not the key stems and caps.
