ahhh!! yeah i wanted a little diesel rabbit truck, but i never ended up finding one. good thing i suppose - i was going to buy it and then drive around the states but instead got the chance to move to europe for a bit.

when i make it back to america i will probably pick that plan up again.

When I think of a blog I think of stories of past/current travels, and the like.  Perhaps that has changed in the past few years?  I don't know.

When it's a dog pet dog world?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

new blog post: skatepark + banked wallride

today i spent about 45 minutes at the skatepark riding the bowl. holy **** is that exhausting. maybe by this summer i'll be clearing the coping! i need to get a helmet before i start going too big though... i almost gave myself a concussion last summer learning how to drop in.

also there is a 60ish degree angled bank right by the park that i've been using to practice wallrides so i rode that for about 20 minutes.

it's only 10:30am... what else should i do today with no money?

It's currently got some new Brobot friends on the Tilde and Escape. I like the Steel Brobot a lot. And it's still got all the CMYK colors. Love the color scheme and the GMK caps.

It was my daily driver at home for the last 2-3 weeks but after I got Diablo 3, it turns out I can't mash on MX Greens for hours. So now it's napping in its case while I use it's roommate. (KMAC and Epsilon share a case.) :D

new blog post: ENOUGH JOKING AROUND

you guys! i need some blogging tips. what do the most successful bloggers do? they turn to the internet! the internet works great for bloggers because they can use it to blog AND to read other blogs. you can't do either of those things without the internet.
so now i need your help, internet:
how do i get the hot blog leads?
how do i get the blog fans knocking down my door?
do i need a door for my blog?
can a blog be more than a blog?
could my blog be the president's home page one day?

1. Become a freemason.
2. Tell me where your door is.
3. Only if you want it knocked down.
4. Yes.
5. It's simple, hack the white house like they do in those hollywood movies. Some accurate ones to learn from are "Hackers" and "Die Hard 4.0".

new blog post: THE LEGEND OF THE FIERCE HORSE

fig. 1: recovered ancient depictions of  FIERCE HORSE on millenial personal computer input device

it has come to my attention that this community does not have proper historical information about the FIERCE HORSE and i could not keep my silence on this matter any longer. the world must know the power of FIERCE HORSE so that we will not fall to its equestrian wiles again.

recently, an inquisition was formed to determine the origin of the following keycap:
More

this key is apparently rare because not many top-row profile versions of this were made. however, a mod-row version WAS made as part of an RGB dyesub kit group buy through standard plastics. Because this kit was for 1.5 mods, a key was needed to fill in a 1x windows button and the cherry was chosen as a symbol of appreciation for the switches. a red Esc dyesub was also included.

nobody expected the FIERCE HORSE.

a mysterious suggestion was made at the behest of FIERCE HORSE. whispers of an additional key floated on the wind, from no discernible origin, until a suggestion was proffered: "shall we place the likeness of this horse upon a keycap to be included with this RGB+Y modifier set?"

for reasons theretofore inexplicable (and heretofore inconceivable) there was found to be unanimous, if not ostentatious support for the FIERCE HORSE keycap. and try as they might, not a single member of the group buy effort could exactly place their finger on exactly what it was that drew them so powerfully, so dreadfully, to FIERCE HORSE. it was a passion. a desire. a longing, painful, hideous cry, from so deep within their broken souls, that they could not admit to one another that their urgent need may be the result of a outside force, perhaps mystical, religious or magnetic in origin. as is the wont of geekhackers, much dramatic tension was created as some members began to question their unbreakable adoration of FIERCE HORSE, but neigh- these stirrings of sentiment were due not in part to a true and lucid rejection of the FIERCE HORSE, but entirely out of fear and dread at the thought of their most coveted, most precious of traits -- the freedom of will -- being violated so wantonly by the thoroughbred manipulations of FIERCE HORSE. generally though, those who possessed concern for the effect of the FIERCE HORSE kept the feelings private.

for those not prone to self-examination of their primal desires, it felt too real, too genuine to question even the smallest aspect of. some couldn't handle the pressure of a possible life without FIERCE HORSE and became socially withdrawn, inattentive to their children, spouses, friends, pets, and coworkers. they became irritable and knew not why. those who smoked found themselves doubling their habits within days. heavy drinkers of coffee approached dfj-levels of consumption but were not able to maintain his lucidity or physical command of bowels. relationships suffered; marriages seemingly overnight. personal health and hygiene was nonexistent but for most geekhackers this was not a departure from the ordinary in a marked way.

the fire of desire for FIERCE HORSE had been lit.

coming next... the fallout of the release of FIERCE HORSE

Attention Mr. Crandall Clacker
To Whom It May Concern,
Hello.

I am a fan of your work. It is so nice. I especially like the colors but the shapes are very good too. I noticed you are getting into scary beasts and marijuana pots and i have to say the visual stimulation is getting to be too much for me to bear! I fear these depictions.
If you can find it within your humble heart and busy schedule, do you think you will ever again make fine single opaque colored Collectors' Clickclack Keyboard Keys?? Maybe for olden time's sake. Maybe for the children. Maybe to give your chislin' gnomes a break. Maybe I'll trade you for a sandwich.
Have you ever dreamed Mr. Crawford Clacking? Do you know the desire inside the fire of want? I am not a covetous man. I just like the colors and the shapes.

post script to my blog readers: i believe some of you know how to get this message to Crenshaw. If you can pass it along maybe he will visit my blog and agree to sponsor me in exchange for banner ads. Cleveland, if you're reading this, i can't believe you've visited my blog. i just can't.

Of course, if it was legit anyway. But, I suspect that Microsoft hardly bothers to check.

If you even attempted to create any kind of Windows 95 "account" would it even exist?

Well, if you create an account, doesn't that count as bringing an account into a state of existence? I think that may answer your question already!

I'm not sure. I'll have to try again. He just kept squirming so maybe he wasn't sleepy/relaxed enough. Perhaps I didn't ride him gently enough...

i am listening to some cool stuff. you know, like Dead In The Dirt, Kickback, Tony Molina,  and i NEED to start listening to these guys more: Weekend Nachos. i've also been writing new songs for my band that still has no drummer. we've just finished the 5th song and are starting on the 6th, and we seem to be getting more and more epic and anthemic as we go. thin krvst!

I love Weekend Nachos...and Spotify. Got new jams to listen to all day thanks to you and Spotify :D.

And your band has no drummer? Program some in like Periphery does!

there is only one band i like that has programmed drums; otherwise i will be polite and just say i am not a fan of the practice. as long as i have limbs i can at least play on the demos.

I was gonna say, you should just do it.  I remember back when you posted some videos of your band playing and you were pretty not that awfully terrible at the drums.  ;)

i write all the drum parts in my head as i'm writing guitar parts anyways. the problem is i'm just really really out of shape right now so i can't physically play some of the parts and some parts i can play but i won't be able to make them sound as good as i'd like. time to start doing pushups.

i would go ride my bike but my knee still hurts a little bit from the Mean Streets of Holland Incident last week. I was walking up some stairs and then i hit one of the stairs with my knee so hard. talk about boneheaded.
when was the last time you attempted to best furniture or architecture? how did it turn out? please share your stories of victory in the face of construction projects. i know demik would have some stories but he got grounded so he's not allowed to talk to us anymore.

new blog post: it's tuesday but it's also my friday!

dang i really thought it would have taken me way less time for me to get to 3 pages on my blog (50 posts per page). but you know what, quality weighs a lot more than quantity. BUT! you know WHAT?! MORE QUALITY IS BETTER THAN LESS QUALITY! myth bested.

tomorrow my mom is flying to holland! that's pretty cool. she's never been to europe, as far as i know.

hey! eat some yogurt! that's what's up. it's one of the weirdest foods besides eggs!!

new blog post: the sizzling of desire!

Click clacks: do they smell like bacon nowadays?
this is the kind of crazy **** that happens in holland: Basically adults are children and cannot feed themselves so they eat sprinkles on their toast and now there is bacon sprinkles for toast

it's another one of those Totally Weird Foods. TWFs. Twifffff. Today I looked up Clam Dangers. most of the results were about the dangers of eating clams. but can you imagine if a clam fell on you from really high up? Be Careful of Shellfish. BCoF. B'Coffffff.

In some News: Macaully Caulkin. What a friggin wet blanket and also eugh. What ever man. Check out this shirt he made:

It's a cool shirt but, man, blehhhgg. Get it figured out! Or whatever. You know this guy was in movies? He also plays music in a band that instead of writing music, plays the Velvet Underground's music, and instead of singing their lyrics, they sing about pizza and what you can do with it, i think mostly eating it. Woof.

Do you guys like Bears? Like, the animals?
Sometimes I think bears are wearing really baggy clothes and I wonder what a bear would look like if it decided to start shopping at H&M. What if bears drank beer?!

new blog post: HEY!

look guys, i know i get a decent amount of pageviews because i refresh my blog pretty often, like 50-60 times a day, and every time i do there are more page views. people are seeing this. but how do I engage with my blog readers?

maybe i need to have a contest. a competition. but that means i need a prize.

you know what, i probably have a prize. i should have a fricking contest! whoa. okay let me think about it.

any ideas? if you could choose to compete or otherwise enter and participate in a contest, what would it be? what are you  best at? who is your enemy on geekhack? can we work in some sort of quest to vanquish an enemy to win the contest? jeez. this could get hairy. i think it's for the best. geekhack isn't hairy enough what with all that talk of fancy Shaving HairCuttery razorknives last year. whew am i glad that fad is over.

don't get me wrong i don't think beards are anything special either.

so what's it going to be? who wants to have a contest of some kind that involves vanquishing enemies and winning a Prize Item?

new blog post: computing!

i'm not going to start off every blog post with the same thing, you guys!!!!
also, just because we're enough doesn't mean we shouldn't get high and drunk and think about sociology while reading about infosec **** on wikipedia.

anyways, i was just reading about capability-based security and followed a link to the Amoeba distributed OS. it got me thinking about all the privacy discussions we have these days and how different things would be if we still worked primarily with terminal-based systems rather than approaching that from a personal computing history.

i suppose data networking infrastructure would have had to have been developed a lot more extensively by the time PCs started to hit folks' houses for that to have been a real possibility. and of course now we have SaaS and cloud services and constant remote communication, but we cling to these supposed rights to privacy on our decks and expect the people who make money off of content delivery to benignly allow us to use their extensive and highly developed networking infrastructure without figuring out some ways to make it worth it to them.

i digress.
what do you think it would be like if we were all on dumb terminals? do you think we'd still be using mechanical keyboards even though there might be less in the way of personalization/customization? or do you think that MORE people might be into things like that BECAUSE your hardware would be the only thing up to you? do you think 'digital rental' and other DRM-type-related concepts would be as hated as they are if we had no local storage? do you think the ability to get persistent presence on the internet (as in, a VPS or server or network that is publicly accessible) would be more difficult? would the concept of personal storage be relevant or would we be relying on stratified storage of files via the providers of the services we use to manipulate them? should i go get a drink outside of my house and stop thinking about this?

I think the step towards terminal computing becoming the norm has already happened and it's only a matter of time before we are all there. You only have to look at the huge sales of tablets, notebooks, chrome books and other small low powered devices.

Though I do think that PC gaming side of things will always exist as a local machine becasue it's an enthusiast market that drives competition and hardware advances. Mech's exist largely inside that market so I see no reason why they wouldn't continue to do so in the future.

today i lost my flannel.

if you're from washington state you'll know what this means.

it's cool. it's gone. no big deal. the problem is that now i don't have a flannel. THE ideal layering component in my wardrobe. THE ideal component in my wardrobe.

basically what i'm saying is i'm TRYING to go out and get a drink but i can't figure out what to wear without my flannel in the mix. it really tied the room together and now someone is probably pissing on it.

As a resident of Washington (the state), I think you can also get away with this. Under a normal t-shirt (but the t-shirt should be printed with some sort of cryptic slogan).

new blog post: dang!

today i lost my flannel.

if you're from washington state you'll know what this means.

it's cool. it's gone. no big deal. the problem is that now i don't have a flannel. THE ideal layering component in my wardrobe. THE ideal component in my wardrobe.

basically what i'm saying is i'm TRYING to go out and get a drink but i can't figure out what to wear without my flannel in the mix. it really tied the room together and now someone is probably pissing on it.

you guys!!

Wait, what?  You only have one flannel?

If you had more and just left them behind then that totally makes sense, I forgive you, and I'm sorry for you.  :(

But you should really buy more.  And not lose them.

Can we all start blogs here, or would that kinda kill the blogging idea totally?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

wow man! i am flattered. i wouldn't even know where to begin though. i'm pretty new to this blogging game but pretty soon it's gonna be your blogging nightmare. in a really good way.
Can we all start blogs here, or would that kinda kill the blogging idea totally?
anyone can blog! everyone can blog! but only i actually blog. what's up with that?   :(

but don't worry. as soon as someone figures out a way to make money off a blog, the aftermarket's gonna blow and then you'll see some new blogs on the market. with hype machines and everything!

the best part about that potential future reality is that those bloggers wont even have to do too much after they write their first posts. they can just change the font color and blog on a holiday and people will literally sew their mouths to their butts over it. or.. do.. this... whatever this is https://docs.google.com/document/d/1861F94wpSdKvVUNuLiP8n8Je7vJzqG5I2oHDkR_Ubxg/edit

new blog post: ugh stuff i hate stuff where did all this stuff come from?

welp i think i'll be dumping a bunch of stuff soon.
i have an almost-complete macross set (except ISO and numpad),
complete cherry g81-3000 set (1.5/7) in beige/white,
one full set of wyse plus tons of extras including tsangan and moogle kits (some yellow, but lots in good shape),
lots of novelty keys and random cool dads,
a GH60 rev B pcb with stickered kailh switch bodies containing clear stems and springs (didnt have a solder sucker at the time so i just modded all 65 by hand... ugh) currently in HHKB layout with TMK fw
plus my GH60 order on the way that i will probably sell including a hhkb and maybe wkl plate? i also have stabilizers and switches for it in my possession (vintage black LOL). also on the way is a 60% case from pexon, low profile black ALU. was going to go with the gh60.

hmm what else do i have... i still have that silly realforce case i might get rid of if i never get another realforce but it's just so dang cool i dont know.

i was pretty excited for duck viper until i went back to using cherry mx for a bit and remembered that i just didnt like it. since i already have my favorite keyboard i dont really need more. let me know if you want any of that stuff and maybe we can work something out.
