Hi Guys

Sorry I've not been here much. I'm trying to get back into the GH habit after the hiatus.
Congrats to iMav on the new look.

We base our prices on what our cost is so discrepencies occur for a variety of reasons. Exchange rate and Topre price policy being the main ones.
I think we were charged more on those ANSI ones because we didn't take so many of them.

I did not read the enire thread so maybe this has already been answered:

Is there any chance of getting some WHITE Topre with 105 keys (german, italian, swedish...) over the http://www.keyboardco.com/? Currently there are only black 105 key keyboards available...

Bruce:

The entire Realforce/HHKb selling/purchasing thing seems quite chaotic.  As you know, I'm in Israel.  I have done a decent amount of business with you, but I purchased my first Realforce from Elite. (Brian had what I wanted, and you didn't.)  Now, I thought because of a shipping disagreement we had, he won't sell me a second Realforce.  He won't even answer my emails.  But, I've now noticed that he is beginning to sell via Amazon (USA), and you have ceased doing so.  I'm thinking that perhaps my problem has to do with with regional rights.  Can you comment on this?

Hi IKSLM
I don't think we will have any White German Layout models this year. Generally Black seems to sell better and we have to hit MOQs so it limits the variety we can stock.

therecorder.
I agree, Topre sales around the world are not the most coordinated.
We have never sold Topre on Amazon USA, Elite handle USA sales, as you say. It makes sense that they have started using Amazon.
What was the issue with Elite? Brian is usually very good. We had a customer in Israel who refused to pay the import duty and that caused us a lot of trouble, it wasn't anything like that was it?

Bruce,

This is from a thread of mine (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=34542.msg638717#msg638717)

"Guess I'll have to wait a couple of months until The Keyboard Company restocks.  Want an all 45g board.  Bought a 55g board, about ten days ago, from ELite, and I would gladly buy another board from them.  However, I gave Brian a real hard time about shipping, and it seems that he no longer wants to do business with me.  He won't even answer my emails.  The fault is mostly mine, and I would reccommend his store and services to anyone who wants what he has to offer."

Brian and I both made some mistakes, and Brian actually refunded my shipping charges (even though I never asked for a refund).  Just wish that he would tell me the reason why he won't accept another order from me.  Guess he doesn't want to chance losing any more money on a sale to Israel.

I can't remember the exact details but the problem we had was to do with high tax and duty charges as well. These often present a problem, not just Israel, but it is difficult because the customer cannot always be expected to know what the charges will be until he has already made his purchase. The carrier will add some charge for their trouble as well - adding to the problem.
In general, customs have a priority of collecting money on imports and don't always care about the business involved or the customer experience. And they don't seem to follow the 'keep it simple' rule either. I have sympathy for you and Brian on this, i'm sure you both did your best.

Bruce if your reading I'd love a UK layout TKL 45g Topre in white, if you refresh your stock please consider getting white, the legends look much better.

Are the black and beige keyboards at The Keyboard Co. the same color as the black and white keyboards at Elite, or are they slightly different colors?

Edit:

Guess they are different, or at least the Model Numbers are different -

Elite Keyboards - Realforce 87U Tenkeyless (White/Gray) - Model Number - SE0700
The Keyboard Company - USA Topre Realforce 87UW Variable Mini Black on Beige Keyboard - Model Number - SE07T0

You know, I'm not certain about this.
There are two pale colours that Topre use but the T0 is not an indicator because some of our Blacks also end T0.
I do have a suspicion that the photography is looking much paler on the Elite site.
I will check this out and let you know.

Thanks!

Sorry for the slow reply.
We're working on an order right now but not quite sure what Swe/Fin we're going for.
Should be able to confirm later in the week.

I still feel the same about Topre as I did when the UK ISO tenkeyless were first mooted - these keyboards are v. expensive and I'd be more interested in getting one as a quality silent keyboard. So mostly interested in a uniform 45g (or possibly even uniform 35g) with the silent option.

As for colour, black is probably still preferable to anything else, but an all white (not the white/grey) would second choice. Beige, no thanks - I'm sure it appeals to a few people looking for 'retro chic' but I'd rather have something contemporary on my desk.

Can you not get just a key set in white to go on the black boards you already have in stock?

Black (QPAD MX-Red) board with Cherry beige keys is what I'm currently using.  It makes it easier for me to see where the keys are without looking at them.  Even by just the light from the monitor at night is enough.
QPAD MK85 MX-red currently wearing beige vintage Cherry double shots.  Logitech K750.  Cherry G80 1000 with Blacks / Grey (circa 1990) that I've had since about 1994.

Sold: Realforce 88UB 45g; QPAD MK80 MX-Blue.

I've got a UK layout 45g TKL (I must have TKL) and I must say I prefer the feel of this thing compared to any MX switch I've tried hands down... but it's not quite perfect.

I would dearly love to see some different colour keycaps with UK layout for sale.. if they exist. Maybe the market for a board like this over here is just too small? Unfortunately every time i get home I find my Topre on the floor & an old £10 keyboard plugged in because my better half can't see the (black on black) letters on "that stupid keyboard". Good job she doesn't know what it cost  ;). Lack of capslock light is also a bit of an issue, don't understand why it's on all the boards sold over the pond, but not on this. Passwords can be a pain in the ********

Hi Bruce,

I sent you an email like a month or two ago.

It's about the difference in "coating" between the rf 87 keycaps and a 105.

I Bought both of them at kbco (rf 87ub and one french rf 105)
The 87 is black on black whereas the 105 is gold on black.

There is a difference in the feeling of the keycaps. The 105 one are more "smooth". I don't know how to describe it, but the "coating" or something seems  definetly different.

What's the exact difference between them ?

Also do you plan to get the 10th anniversary version ? if so, consider you have already 2 units sold

Will you be getting any 105 back in stock?
Will they have white or light keys with black text?
All 45grams?
And silenced?  Maybe the silenced use purple switches?  The RF88UB I have here has the black switches.
I'd like to try lighter that 45grams.

Thanks.

Hi,

I recently bought two of them. One variable and one variable silent. As for kb layout, I'd prefer ANSI too. If I get a third one (which I might), it has to be uniform 55 or 45 (uniform 45 doesn't exist tho, at least when I look at leopold). 30 or 35 is out of the equation for me.

Yes. There will. But not sure the colour scheme or exactly when. All 45 most likely.

I don't think Topre are still making the keypads.

About first question, not exactly when, but even a year would be nice. In this year, right?!
Also I would prefer 55g weighted keys, but 45g will do too :)
