Recommend me a soldering iron
« on: Thu, 29 August 2013, 18:50:06 »
As title says I'm trying to dig into a bit more of DIY stuff besides keycaps, lube, etc. So I figured id grab myself a cheap beginners solder for just taking off some old alps switches switching them out that something little like that. Id prefer if i could find it on amazon and under 20 dollars. Also what kind of solder is used iron non iron etc?

I was looking at.

It comes with a solder de solder etc. Thanks!

Thanks I read through that but I'm looking for ones available on amazon. I wouldn't mind spending more then 20 but id prefer it not to be a ton more since its more of for light changes like swapping out a few switches putting in a teensy etc. Just that little stuff for now one step at a time on diy for me. I was also considering removing all my alps from a board and throwing them onto a new one MAYBE depending on how comfortable i felt after taking off and switching a few switches.

it's almost neccessary to get a legit hakko tip, the stock one is abysmal

Eek looking at soldering stations, hakko tips, etc on amazon seems like quiet a large chunk of cash.

What about one of these 2?
