Built an Austere a month or so ago but didn't get the time for a photoshoot. I'm not a great photographer, just using a DIY lightbox at work and auto-settings on the DSLR. Some Google Photos filters lol.

Specs:

Austere keyboard with an aluminium plate in dark grey
MX Browns (retooled housing, vint stems, lubed with GHv4 thin lube)
Screw-in stabilizers with gold wire (housings lubed with something thick Vegs sent me, dielectric grease on wires)
EPBT blanks in dark grey
2mm neoprene foam between PCB/case

Iced out on a budget

Seriously though I grabbed this set of NK x Tai-Hao cubic Bow on a whim just to try cubic out & they're not bad at all. While Tai-Hao still has some work to do to get these up to snuff, for the price they are actually very nice. If they get new molds for matching numpad legends, fix up some of worst the legend inconsistencies (caps, 1.75u shift for example), & get the 7u spacebars right I'd love to see some more enthusiast orientated sets from them in this profile! Hope they keep working at it & don't let it sit where they got it. Good quality, mid priced, high compatibility keycap sets are something that don't really exist & these could easily fill that role.

Feels great actually, I've basically started to phase out standard layouts in favor of more ergonomic options after getting this guy. And to be honest, I'm really thinking about just getting another Model 01 haha.

Cool. A while back read about all the **** they had to go through with their manufacturers. I'm very happy to see they pulled through and people are happy with Model 1. If you plan on thinning your collection, I'm interested lol.

Yeah those vintage boards are always mesmerizing on meetups. Especially the IBM beamspring keyboards steal always the show.

Do you have any broken electronics around the house you could pull the boards from? Most of the soldering needed for a KB kit is just simple through hole soldering. The best way to practice soldering & desoldering IME is to take an old mobo or whatever that has a few through hole components on it, then just go at it desoldering them & soldering them back into place. No worry of breaking anything & great practice to get you ready for when you got a fresh PCB to solder on.
