Got a set of Imsto grey PBT caps with blue legends from Feng.

I added the mods to one of my other set that had the wrong colored center stemmed caps lock.

Looks much better  :D  Now I got a PBT Olivetti set.

<3 I absolutely love it when people match themes on their boards. Awesome purple theme, dood. That brobot goes perfectly with the legends.

This.  And while you are at it, swap the teal \ for the pink one from the set.  It feels off balance to me.
wut. i'd buy a ****ty IBM board for that green V2

Thanks.  It's blue legends and a purple haze BB, but it's the closest match I have right now.

It's a pretty dark blue color, so it looks neat with the Purple Haze V2! :) Good job.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Clear tape and sharpie to match a program I wrote to simulate layers in firmware (this is actual working keys on a stock QFR, the mirrored right alt key is now a dummy key (F24) that acts like Fn)

Looks real shabby, gonna redo them all with a better pen and less coffee later, I redid this like 10 times finalizing the layout I wanted to go for.

Really temporary stuff until I get a reprogrammable keyboard.

I really like your board with Miami though I think the key under esc should be the normal cap and then the gradient style bro's on the three switches in the top right.
Looks sick either way though, everytime it see your board makes me sad I can't afford/find a white TKL case for my filco Miami board ;_;

Threw the Cherry doubleshots from Pacifist on my Filco I use at work. Pretty shiny but the board gets used heavily anyhow and they feel great to type on!

Also put these on my Pure

Worse than I thought before I put them on the board. If you are looking for a set that isn't shiny they probably aren't your best bet, but I'm not to bothered for what I am using them for.

good condition to me means not brand new, but that you couldnt tell much of a difference between them and a new product

i think if those caps were described as fair condition, i would be seriously annoyed

perhaps poor condition would be a fair grade

I also noticed in his sales thread someone complained about shiny caps and he said something like 'oops i must have sent you the wrong ones'....whatever that means

but 'good condition' caps shouldn't have much if any shine

The shine makes the keycaps feel glossy/grippy, which means they are ****, not good.

I saw that too Pacifist not getting a very good rep with his handling of this GB. Glad I stayed away from the looks of things.

How shiny are they?

Worse than I thought before I put them on the board. If you are looking for a set that isn't shiny they probably aren't your best bet, but I'm not to bothered for what I am using them for.

They were sold to you as "good condition," right? To me, "good condition" means "used, but no shine." What do others think?

I also noticed in his sales thread someone complained about shiny caps and he said something like 'oops i must have sent you the wrong ones'....whatever that means

but 'good condition' caps shouldn't have much if any shine

I saw that too Pacifist not getting a very good rep with his handling of this GB. Glad I stayed away from the looks of things.

Yes, they were advertised as good condition and they definitely aren't good condition to me, but I haven't bought old keys like this before so I didn't know if it's normal for them to have a lot of shine due to the boards they are coming from, but at the same time what would poor condition keys be like if the good condition have pretty heavy shine?!

good condition to me means not brand new, but that you couldnt tell much of a difference between them and a new product

i think if those caps were described as fair condition, i would be seriously annoyed

perhaps poor condition would be a fair grade

Yeah I think you are right. If I were to sell them I'd say they were poor condition.

I also noticed in his sales thread someone complained about shiny caps and he said something like 'oops i must have sent you the wrong ones'....whatever that means

Yeah I saw that, I have no idea what he meant by sent the wrong ones either. I thought mine looked OK when I peeked into the bag when I got them in the mail, turned out to be a lot shinier than I initially thought they were. Not really good condition.

im not sure id be happy with a product with any shine at all if described as good condition, to me shine isnt good

Yeah shine isn't good. When I purchased them I definitely assumed that the description "good condition" would mean little to no shine at all. The board I put them on I use at work and don't care so much about it since before these I had even shinier ABS filco keys, but regardless they were advertised as good condition which I wouldn't really think with this much shine is very accurate.

Not trying to be a hater just seemed like a few people were not pleased with the way things were ran.

I recently found a little trick you can use to make shiny/glossy keycaps a bit more tolerable.
I will probably create a thread on that soon™  ;)

I scale used keys much like the grade scale used for record collectors...
mint - might as well be from NIB
very good - can tell is used but not much
good - wear, some shine but still good texture, no major scratches, chips etc
fair - useable for everyday not showcasing, mostly shiny little texture, very mild discoloration, light scratches, small chips (like very tiny from cap pulling)
poor - still useable but ugly, mirror shine gloss zero texture, mild scratches, chips moderate discoloration
garbage - self explanatory

I ran a quick search and there was a thread about it already lol.  I guess we geekhackers all think alike.

I think the picture is a little bit misleading though.  You won't get the original texture back.  You're essentially sanding the surface with a superfine sandpaper.  so don't do this unless you know what you're doing. It's really effective in terms of getting rid of glossiness and making it more like a 'matte' finish, still shiny but doesn't reflect as much light.

Interesting. I think it is pretty common here to use magic erasers to clean caps. Never seen it used to combat shine.

I don't think you want to use magic erasers for cleaning soft plastic material like ABS.  It's abrasive enough it could ruin the keycap surface.
