there seems to be a lot more inspiration and creativity in the people putting together KAT sets
That's a pretty harsh thing to say about the entire keycap community. Plenty of people have inspiration for their keysets no matter what profile it is. The creativity for keysets has nothing to do with profile, your comment is just gatekeeping. While I love KAT sets and am working on one myself I put a lot of effort and inspiration into GMK Ashes, and I know countless others who put so much effort into their keysets and ICs.
It's just what happens when you have to use a mediocre profile so these failing child kits can be made. Gotta hype it up even if that means ****ting on other people
interpret this however you want, but imo, people are nostalgically attached to GMK.
it's not to say that GMK kit designers put any less effort into their sets, but the fear to stray away from the norm, and experiment with KAT is something that a lot of people have.
undeniably, KAT sets have a lot more attractive kitting structure to a lot of people, which is the opposite of gatekeeping, since everyone can use their preferred layout.
gatekeeping is the wrong word to describe that phrase, but it's not that using KAT profile means that set designers are putting in more effort.
just my 2 cents tho
