Welcome to the Interest Check for DCS Yue Lao
“An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break.”
This set is inspired by Yue Lao (月老), the god of marriage and love in Chinese mythology and the story of the red thread of fate.
Yue Lao has an image of an old man that appears at night under the moon. Every Qixi Festival (七夕), he will be given a book filled with names of people that are single. And it is his duty to find the best match for each person, then tie the ends of the red thread of fate around their fingers. The two people that are connected by the cord are ‘destined lovers’, and are fated to meet in their lives.
The set will mostly be ABS doubleshot, with the exception of a few novelty keys (namely the enter keys, and the 2.25u left shift key) which will be entirely pad printed due to technological limitations. I lightened the entire colour scheme in order to reflect more on the image of the moon.
Kits
Base Kit
The Base Kit will have simplified Cangjie (a.k.a. Sucheng) sublegends since it's inspired by Chinese mythology. New legends will be made for the alphas.
Numpad Kit
Latin Alphas Kit
Spacebars Kit
Novelties Kit
UPDATED! Modified several keys to comply with technical limits.
As I previously said, most of the set will be ABS doubleshot except for the enter keys and the 2.25u left shift key.
To reflect the tale of the red thread of fate, I designed a left shift novelty key which has a hand with one end of the cord tied to it. I hope to depict an image of the red thread of fate running from the hand on the enter key, under the alphas, and onto the other hand which is on the left shift key
Accent Kit
Due to popular demand, I decided to add a red accent kit!
Alps Kit
NEW KIT!
From SP: Alps doubleshot keys are historically difficult to mold. The stem doesn’t have much plastic to hang onto when we mold a first shot under the key, resulting in stems breaking off the bottom of the key easily. Therefore, please be aware that too much removal of the key from the switch could result in the switch breaking.
