If you've never been to the King of Prussia Mall, it's pretty fun. Lots of places to shop and eat, and it's pretty freaking huge. So if anyone wants to stay out in that direction there's still fun to be had. If you've never driven a Tesla you can schedule a test drive. It's a pretty good time, but make sure to bring someone who's actually thinking about the prospect so you're not just a freeloader (although, since they don't claim to be a dealership they don't really mind freeloaders either).
If you go into center city to have fun, then my suggestion for giving yourself the least headache would be to get into center city before 3PM and stay in center city past 8PM at least to avoid traffic on the 76. After 10PM the drive should be pretty enjoyable. If you don't mind walking you can park on a residential street North of Spring Garden for free, but don't go too far north . . . I usually park somewhere ~7th and Spring Garden. It's a hike to all the fun stuff, but it's free parking, ha. But I'm a local, so if you're on vacation you might just want to have fun and pay for parking.
If you want to geek out over electronics there's a Micro Center at 550 Lancaster Ave in St Davids, PA, which is 4 minutes away from the university. They stock crazy laptops with 18" curved screens and full size mechanical keyboards. They have an HTC Vive demo set up, 3D printers and other fun stuff you won't see at a Best Buy.
If you want other local recommendations feel free to AMA. I've had my fair share of cheesesteaks and will give you my take on what's best in Philly.
