I don't think it is really worthwhile to spend that much on 1/4" drive since you won't put that much torque through it. You'd want to use a 3/8" for things that need more torque anyways. http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_10155_12602_00910034000P?vName=Hand+Tools&cName=Ratchets+%26+Sockets&sName=Socket+Sets&prdNo=3 <= It is probably cheaper to buy this than buying separate metric and standard socket sets. I don't see a need for 6 point or deep sockets in 1/4" drive, so this will probably do most of what you need.

I'd say step it up to the actual Craftsman branded one, not the evolv sets.

IIRC the evolv stuff doesn't come with the same warranty and is definitely not on par with the regular branded tools from what I've experienced.

Let's just say he had me at "deep sockets".

I can spend a little more so I'd prefer higher quality. Thanks!

http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/nb_10155_12602_NB_CSwarranty?adCell=WF#point8 I'd agree on the ratchet, but not so much on the sockets itself. Personally, the only time I use 1/4" drive is on a nut driver handle. You're probably doing it wrong if you're using 1/4" drive in high torque jobs.

from what I have seen the evolv tools are for the most part exactly the same minus the warranty...but that warranty is amazing. I have a full craftsman set that i use for working on my car and lots of other stuff and love it.

although i would also look at the pittsburgh line of tools at harbor freight. they are cheaper but still have that same no questions asked swap out if anything breaks. i mainly use harbor freight for any tools that i know i won't use that often.
Check out my sales thread.

You can't go wrong with a Craftsman. Though you did sprung extra for a fancy labeled version. The ratchet is unbecoming of those sockets (cheap looking, bad ergo and a bit wobbly). Wait for a thin profile ratchet to go on sale and pick up one of those. I've seen them under 20 bucks and they're unbelievably good at that price.
