Aluminum plate, Vintage MX Blacks (~62g), Hiney H87A PCB

GMK Red Alert 2023 with a DCS GH novelty ;)

One of my favorite silver boards! I think the side profile is really shown off by the silver ano. It's a surprisingly deep sounding and heavy board given it's all aluminum. But the Koala plate (one of my favorite designs) never feels too harsh to type on, and the super low angle I find great for gaming :cool: Everything about it is really simple, but it's also extremely elegant in its simplicity, I think.

cherry blacks - unlubed - filmed and springswapped with tx 55g mediums - alu Plate | pretty happy with this, the blacks were cherry picked so they weren't that scratchy to begin with, but currently breaking them in, may lube them with a dry lube like ro59 or ptfe powder.

bad orange alps lol | definitely needs a restoration. planning on wax boiling them and maybe a replacement pcb because the board has only 2 key rollover apparently.

stock with silent reds | Pretty cool looking board, the silent reds are actually good, they are smooth and I don't mind the mushiness (it's not even that mushy as well). the layout is pretty weird, but is useable. will probably mod this in the future. maybe a pcb and plate swap, change the keycaps to something dolch like, and also spring swap the springs in the silent reds.

Built with new nixies on pc half plate. Love this board already, probably the best looking board I own, those brass accents are so mint. Really like it as is, but I do want to try an alu build (probably with nixies as well) just to experiment with that.

I have not bought any new keyboards for the past 3 years. I just took out this GON and use it again. It has MX Clears and still works fine. I miss Clears!

OTD 356CL DGE

Half polycarbonate plate, MX Clears (as found)

GMK Dolch R5, OG Desko RGB mods, Click Clack F2 Blue Skull

As an appreciator of all things cone feet, I've wanted a DGE for a while but could never stomach the prices they often go for. With the help of some very nice friends I was able to export this scuffed example from Korea -- check out how that ano has worn away on the left side, the ano on these is wildly thin. I wasn't quite able to capture the ano around the nav cluster but it has a slight splotchiness/streaking that looks almost like I could rub the ano off with my finger if I tried hard enough. Definitely not comparable to 2023 standards of custom keyboard finishes  :))

It's really the ultimate board in terms of cone feet experiences though -- really simple but every aspect of it feels somehow elevated. The 1mm PCB and clear polycarbonate plate, with a token o-ring and pillowy bumpons contribute to an incredibly comfortable board to type on, even with what feel like stock-weight MX Clear springs. If you pick up the assembly by one end, the entire PCB and plate will bend noticeably under its own weight. I love that it shares a plate, PCB, and top case design with the legendary 356CL but in a budget, "economy" package. Unlike my KMAC which feels intentionally "hollow" or "thin" (which I love about it) the DGE feels like anything but cheap.

OTD 360C Apple Silver - Built with Vintage MX Blacks and alu plate. Keycaps: OG 3100SAV
My first OTD which I got it from a trade, previous owners are still very active in this hobby!



Weight fell off during transit, leaving some dents at the bottom case, never bothered by it. Added more characters to the board I guess LOL

OTD 456GT Black - Built with West German 1000HAD Vintage MX Blacks and alu plate. Keycaps: GMK Demonic
The wrist breaker! It's actually very nice to type on once you have get used to the steep angle. One of the best sounding boards I have even had.




OTD 356CL DGE - Built with Vintage MX Blacks and alu plate. Keycaps: GMK Hyperfuse OG R1
My fav OTD so far, the typing experience of this board with the thin yellow pcb is out of this world.

cherry blacks - unlubed - filmed and springswapped with tx 55g mediums - alu Plate | pretty happy with this, the blacks were cherry picked so they weren't that scratchy to begin with, but currently breaking them in, may lube them with a dry lube like ro59 or ptfe powder.

gateron yellows - lubed with 205g0 - 62g tx mediums - pc plate | probably my favourite keyboard already, feels super nice and sounds pretty good, it's got a great layout as well. probably gonna build this with mx browns, I feel like it would suit the board more.

stock with silent reds | Pretty cool looking board, the silent reds are actually good, they are smooth and I don't mind the mushiness (it's not even that mushy as well). the layout is pretty weird, but is useable. will probably mod this in the future. maybe a pcb and plate swap, change the keycaps to something dolch like, and also spring swap the springs in the silent reds.

I must say, just seeing a single OTD (or any OG kustom, for that matter) still makes my knees weak from excitement, yet alone a whole week's worth! The mystique of it all and how they're out there somewhere, just waiting to resurface onto a person's desk who knows how special these boards are. There's something truly magical about it, imho.

yeah it's always cool to see og kustoms, especially stuff I've never seen before (like finding out there was a Stainless Steel of the dk saver that's so cool)

I do eventually wanna get my hands on an og kustom (like a 360c or dk saver) one day, but for now looking at them and building and using my other boards is good enough

Weight fell off during transit, leaving some dents at the bottom case, never bothered by it. Added more characters to the board I guess LOL

Hai guys....long time no see ^_^ it took soo long since the original group buy holy sh*** XD but my LZ GHv2 is finally here! Finally i got a kustom  ;D



Funny story how I got this... I was on holiday in Seoul, when I ran into a guy who claimed to be "DrugER"...even though he was not part of the GHv2 group buy, he claimed to have found my board in the sewers of Seoul... =__= it's got some dusty switches, i'm gonna have to clean...wild story, DrugER just gave me the board and ran off...  :confused: :confused: :confused:





Anyway, hope LZ can run more boards like this in the future, it's so sick! Love how original the bar weight is, and the fact that you can reverse it to get a different angle - I have it set to 7.3, but the default I think is 8.5". Not sure if that impacts sound?




Love the side-glow RGB! My gamer friends love it xD The PCB is some really weird one, can't find the software...Let me know if you recognize it?



Built it with unlubed vintage blacks on a SS plate but I've been liking the BCPs on POM a little more, iz a little more lively, unlubed cherries were a bit too thin...caps are GMK Classic Beige Hangul with U9 front print relegendables and Hangul alphas. Kinda keen to find an old skool beige or non-beige artisan to put on Esc. Loving the classic beige r5.







Wanted to write a build log but when DrugER gave me the board it was already built. Might post more of my thoughts on the board's sound later when i've typed on it/tuned it more, but it's definitely giving me old school vibes and has a super unique aesthetic/design - defs more boards should use the bar weight idea! Ano quality is also way better than I thought it'd be.

It's been a minute, gh!

I had a friend of mine recently let me borrow and build his 356CL - that one Korean board that influenced a lot of current custom mechanical keyboards  :thumb:

I figured it'd be right to share the pics here - as things have since moved a lot towards platforms like Discord and IG and I often reminisce of geekhack as a good place for media permanence.
