Does this mean I can get some actual final measurements so I can finally design a case for it? Please?
http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=34959.msg954124#msg954124

These should be final, so they should hold for rev c. and if they don't then i expect the changes will be very small.

Feel exactly the same way. Adding to the problem is not the most elegant of solutions.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

can someone explain to me how this works?

are you saying that mechanicalkeyboards.com (or someone else) will be given access to all the relevant files and then will be able to source their own manufacturers once everyone in this groupbuy gets their assembled product?

if so, isn't the whole groupbuy stalled on the assembly process with WFD?

theoretically, if he NEVER finishes assembly, that means that no vendor will ever be able to release these to the general public?

The GB isn't stalled on WFD at all. The PCB has just been in development. If you look like a dozen posts back, it's possibly about to go into production. At that point all the plates, etc, will be ordered.

How hard is it to change from ISO to ANSI (poker plate) on my own? I took over an order and it had an ISO plate but now I noticed how much of an annoyance getting ISO keycaps is as most people use ANSI

Has your order the assembly service included? If the board was assembled you would have to desolder all switches, if not you just need the ANSI plate (or PCB mounted switches).

are you saying that mechanicalkeyboards.com (or someone else) will be given access to all the relevant files and then will be able to source their own manufacturers once everyone in this groupbuy gets their assembled product?

The files will be available for download for anybody, that's why it's called open source.

if so, isn't the whole groupbuy stalled on the assembly process with WFD?

How is the GB stalled? The PCBs get ordered in a few days?

theoretically, if he NEVER finishes assembly, that means that no vendor will ever be able to release these to the general public?

Are you saying that only WFD is able to assemble GH60s? I don't get your thought process here.

not going to lie, im getting a little bit angry about this group buy, my order was like $250 and because it didn't include switches i have to assume that its not spent yet and being held safely in someone's account, someone who has not disappeared off geekhack. 1 of my GH60s was supposed to be a Christmas present for a family member and that never happened, maybe Christmas 2014.....Ill probably just end up selling most of my order, probably for a loss if mechanicalkeyboards.com and others ends up selling them.

TJ has the money (which he collected, if you remember) for the PCBs, which will soon be sent to the fab. Switches are in hand. Plates and stabs should also be ordered soon. Everything is okay. Just relax... :D

I think some of the frustration must come from the fact that everything seemed pretty complete by the payment deadline (6/30), which was well after the order deadline (4/22). But then talk of a bug came up in this thread in October, and after all that testing nothing really actually seemed all that complete basically until last week when komar said they're being ordered. Also, there's the fact that the OP still says WFD having plates made, yet he's been very badly MIA. Maybe I'm wrong but I didn't think that plates had a dependency on the PCBs, so I'm unsure as to why they haven't been produced yet and worried that it's going to draw things out even longer. Do you guys have any comments on any of those things?

Obviously we'd want everything to be good and as bug-free as possible, but the mismatched expectations have been getting to me a little bit. Of course there isn't much but to sit tight and be patient, and I do think people in general are doing a decent job of that - possibly because we at least are getting more frequent updates here than in other GBs.

There were two rounds of prototype testing within that time, as well as many holidays, both here and in China, etc.

Believe me, it's more frustrating to me than to anyone else that WFD has basically been MIA for quite some time now. But there's not a whole lot that komar nor I can do about that. If he doesn't come back with some info about the plates by the time the PCBs are complete, I will probably take over and just have them made somewhere else.

So does the new pcb support leds? What has improved over these months?

I am in no hurry at this point. I was about 6 months ago but now.... Not so much. Simply because I have moved on to other projects. Still super psyched about these. I am hoping to give a board to my sister for graduation since she is going to be a writer. Any chance that will happen? She graduates late may.

It has provisions for LEDs, but will need an external controller (aside from caps, wasd cluster, and one more that I can't remember).

plates are pretty much the least important part of this group buy. additionally dont we have like seven million users who are good with CAD who could be tapped to help with the plates? i don't fault WFD for being busy, but he shouldn't be the bottleneck here... i don't understand.

What bottleneck? I just said above that I would take care of plates if WFD is still AFK when PCBs are done. PCBs were being prototyped and tested, and now the final revision is being sent to the fab for production.

I mean this as an honest question: Why are we waiting for the PCB's to be done before we figure out what's up with WFD?  Shouldn't orders be put in for plates now, so that these things can get shipped out when we get PCB's back?  I mean at this point, it's been 7 months since money changed hands.  These things can happen in parallel, right?

Honestly, because I don't want to do it if I don't have to. I work a full time job, have a wife and toddler at home, and I just have very limited free time.

And WFD was in contact with a place local to him to have the plates cut, which I don't have here.

From the beginning, WFD, komar, and I split our duties and responsibilities in this GB. I wanted to be a part of it, but I made it clear that my part would necessarily be limited. If I have to take on other duties, I will, just because I want this GB to succeed. It has already taken quite a long time to get to this point, why do we need to rush things at this point?

I totally appreciate your position, and I don't mean to put it on you.  I'm just thinking maybe now is a time to call for a volunteer here.  I know other folks have cut and sold plates on here before and maybe someone can help.  Or maybe it's time to just refund plate money and make that a separate group buy so orders aren't completely held up by it.

I get the "why rush?", but this seems to be more of a "why drag this out longer?" when there is no reason to serialize these operations.  Then again, I'm not on the inside here, and maybe there is good reason to think WFD will reappear.  So feel free to tell me I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I'll shut up now, but I just think it's time to start thinking about ways to wrap this up and try to avoid more of the issues that go with long-running group buys.
