Probably a bit late now, but it might be worth putting "DSA" somewhere in the thread title.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Also, if you’re drawing inspiration from Apple’s symbol for the Alt/Option key, and for Home/End/PgUp/PgDn/Delete, you may also want to look at their Caps Lock symbol, which is a shift arrow w/ an additional rectangle beneath; to me it makes more logical sense than the downward pointing arrow.

I like that Apple caps lock symbol as well, although I probably wouldn't go so far as to say that it's more logical.

I see that Pure Grey and Charcoal are very close in the poll. In sincerely hope that Matt3o goes with his gut and not with the mob and kicks Pure Grey to the curb  :))

I'd actually like to have both. That would be totally feasible. Maybe we could add the second color combo if the first reaches 100 pieces sold.

A more rational icon kit

if you have suggestions please speak now before it's too late :P

I will add more key sizes but the icons should be all there.

I'm glad because I voted for Charcoal  :thumb: .  This would be fantastic, done in Charcoal.  You see Matt3o when you rely on democracy to decide the outcome you end up pissed off when it heads out in other directions  8) .

I like charcoal way more than pure gray, but all mockups are gray now and colors codes are pretty much selected.

Anyway there's always the option to have 3 colors. So idea would be: if base pure gray reaches 100 set sold, we add charcoal. (unless charcoal wins by a long distance)

Definitely would rather have pure gray since there is no chance in hell of getting Beige.

However I will get whichever color gets made ;D

Updated nerdom kit

Unfortunately I will probably have to remove the thundercats logo (the lines are too thin) and also the Amiga A if I can't find the "real" logo. I'm not fond about the smiley too.

Looking forward to receiving your suggestions.

the atom is a good idea!

All we need about Amiga "A" is the font name I guess. It's close to Georgia, but not quite.

The logo font is apparently a modified Times New Roman. According to http://www.amigahistory.co.uk/logo.html:

Above this was the newly redesigned AMIGA logo, in a custom-Times New Roman font.

The A's on the keyboard are italicized perhaps?

Someone says Bodoni others Garamond, but I believe it's a modified version of either of them.

The best would be to have a very high resolution picture of the original. I don't have an amiga at hand now though

Updated kits. Please review (note: I placed a couple of errors in the legends to see if you are alert)

Please review carefully the Ergodox and give feedback (it will be available in blank with more colors)

The colors are GKK + GDE (= NEUTRAL GRAY)

Colored second legend to be evaluated.

Would it be possible to switch one or two legends for a single order in a kit? For instance, swapping DEL on the 2x ergodox key for Fn? I can see this being a headache if everyone wanted some slight changes, so no surprise if it's not possible.

Also, a red 1.5x escape or a blue 2x enter key for the ergodox kits would be nice.

Lowercase shift in pro kit? Also, all the RGB mods are lowercase...

The math symbols (divide, multiply x) on the number pad are questionable to my eye.

Asterisk in mono-legend is too big (bulky?) to match its compatriots.

No dot in the mono-legend; is that because there's one in the number pad already?

yep :)

The math symbols (divide, multiply x) on the number pad are questionable to my eye.

I kinda like them...

Asterisk in mono-legend is too big (bulky?) to match its compatriots.

A long work awaits me with the legends. The icon kit and the nerdom are almost final, everything else has to be revised. Now it is important to define what goes where.

No dot in the mono-legend; is that because there's one in the number pad already?

Yep. Mean, isn't it :)

That's always gonna be the case, considering how variable ergodox layouts are. Ten keys match mine, but I have two 2.0x vertical shifts unaccounted for...

The hope is it'll cover most parts of most people's layouts, together with the other mod sets. Are you missing layer switch keys, by any chance?

yeap, layer keys for the 1.5x
for the 2x, 3 of them matches mine, backspace, enter, space. instead of del, i have alt.

i don't think matt would let us choose which legend we want from the ergodox kit and fill the rest with blanks :P

yeap, layer keys for the 1.5x
for the 2x, 3 of them matches mine, backspace, enter, space. instead of del, i have alt.

Its definitely tricky trying to cover all configurations while keeping the cost to a minimum. I said over at DT that layers are the only important ones I'm missing. Instead of the 2x del I'll probably end up mapping mine to layer toggle. But I dont mind if the 2x del key doesn't match as that's arguably the most common layout.

I think it would be useful to get a big list of configurator printouts, then add all the modifiers to a database so future GB organisers can know what the most common setup will be.

quite a good idea to put up our config in a thread.
but who's going to look at the data and mark out the common keys?

I think the mono legend kit is missing a single period key and a back slash on a dark key.

period is in the numpad.

if you can't find an agreement, I'll revert to full blank.

Regarding colors.

As much as I like the charcoal IF we are going to have multi colored legends the best option is PURE GRAY. The only legend color we could use with charcoal is black. So pure gray is more flexible and would let us have third legends in blue/green or red for example (for international layouts).

What do you think?

I don't think the nerd kit gels at all with the rest of the set, what with everything else looking so simple and bold.
Just m'two cents.
If today had been a hippo, then you'd really have to worry about tomorrow.

Okay then can you apply all Charcoal on the F1 to F12 set?  Make a lighter Grey on the F1 to F12 set as well?  Just want a choice for applying 2 different colour codes for this area.
