Was wondering if you guys had any plans to bring in the Shine III and, if so, any idea as to release time?

I'm interested too. Since all shine 2 are out of stock... maybe waiting for a brand new shine III worth it. Any way to sign up for a newsletter, or to get noticed when a certain product is restocked?

Considering the Shine 3 was just announced at a huge event... doubt that they'd trust distributors with such information beforehand!

I noticed from a post in the keyboard section that pccasgear.com is getting the zero shine 6/21/13. I'm hoping that means mechanicalkeyboards.com will get them around the same time.  I check the incoming list daily!

Maybe even sooner - it tends to take a bit longer for new stuff to arrive down here.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

My best guess is next month, but still no telling.  It sounds like we'll have Year of the Snake before Shine III's.

I've known about Shine III's for almost 2 months now, and it's very hard to bite my tongue for so long... I wish they didn't tell us ahead of time lol

As always, we will do our best to have every available version of every available model at our store ASAP.  That's how we roll with Ducky ;)

Still no word on Shine 3 ETA --- the very first ETA I heard was June / July, but I highly doubt it will be this month.

I would be very surprised if Ducky didn't have a TKL Shine 3.  They should have both variations as they did with Shine 2.

Shine 3 will not be aluminum.  The Year of the Snake has the aluminum case.  (that guy's video is quite confusing as he is constantly talking about one keyboard while he's holding another...)

Updated ETA: August 2nd

This includes Full Size only, but I have been told they have plans to release TKL Shine 3 (no ETA yet).

Ducky Mini design has not yet been finalized, so no ETA.

I bought one and it worked fine for English. I was going to replace the stock keycaps anyways.

The year of the Snake has been advertised as having an aluminum case that would cause it to be priced higher.

This ^

The price is almost entirely due to the Aluminum frame.

The plastic frame Year of the Dragon, Rabbit, etc. were around $169.  It actually could have been worse as Aluminum Frames usually bump the price $100+ by themselves.

If you're talking about the YOTS, I don't think its a question of how long they'll be sold for... more like how long until they get sold out. It seems like with these limited edition boards, they make a certain number of them and distributors get a certain number to sell til they run out.

Yep.  The Aluminum Case is certainly the main difference.  Other minor differences:

1) Spacebar Logo
2) YOTS in Mandarin (?) next to arrow keys - I personally love the way this looks.
3) Etched serial number (### / 999) in Aluminum Frame on back edge.

There could be other differences, but I haven't been specifically told what they are.

YOTS was originally supposed to come out mid-July.  So far, it's been pushed back to early - mid August.  Using mechanical keyboard math, it should be here before 2014... We'll update everyone once it's 'on the plane'.

So stoked for this keyboard! I'll be skipping out on the YOTS edition, regrettably,  as I just spent a ton of money on computer parts building my new rig.  The standard Shine 3 is looking real sexy though so I think I'll get over it when I get one of these in a few months.

Personally I'm okay with the delay--I won't know which switch version to get for my wife until she has a go at the Ultimate Switch Tester, and I'm still a few people away from getting my grubby paws on it.

Looking forward to hearing how the mechanicalkeyboards.com replacement space bar bundling will work too.  :)

it's amazing how shine 3 has every feature the yots has, correct me if i am wrong.

it's also amazing that at least as someone who likes to get things first as a ritual/customary/habit and nothing else(i don't write reviews because I hate youtube for it's bloated and commercialized review content uploader community) Ducky is offering limited time of shine 3 with snake space bar(correc tme if i am wrong, again)

So, on the site it shows YOTS incoming with an estimated arrival of August.  However, the Shine 3 are showing to arrive before then and we can place pre-orders for them.  Why can't we place pre-orders for the YOTS?  Is it due to being a little further out?

No pre-orders for YOTS at the moment. The ETA keeps getting pushed back, so we're holding off for now.

Any firmer ETA on when the Shine 3s will be shipping out to pre-orderers (i.e. has the window narrowed any from the 2 week estimate)?

Did my pre-order as well.  Blue LED with Browns.  Was going to hold out for YOTS but I didn't think the aluminum frame alone was worth the price bump.  Up next will be the Mini.

Have some Shine 2 Dark Gray and White Keycaps I can use to mix it up so it will look very distinct once I change out some keycaps.

Yeah, I'm a Ducky ****.

Any word on different Shine keycap sets that will be incoming?  Would be nice to snatch up a Purple or Light Gray ABS set.

It's Dark gray, sadly.  Not light like it's shown on promo photos.

I've pre-ordered a Shine III, but missed out on the batch of MX Green/green LED versions that were up for micro-seconds yesterday.  Is there a chance you can get more Green/Green Shine III's?  And can I switch my pre-order to one of these, just on spec?   ;D

If that's the case then you're better off just stocking keycap sets.  Bad business to get them if they require minimums and you only sell 10% right away.

I'm pretty sure the boards that MK is getting are from the launch event (initial 400 board run). MK is the primary distributor for Ducky here in North America. Nobody else but NCIX gets them as far as I know. You will most likely get the extra ducky spacebar + the additional spacebars that MK is giving you (total of 4 spacebars including snake). Pretty sweet deal IMO.

Thanks to Josh for taking care of the DSI mix up and letting me know what's up with the Shine III shipments. I ordered a DSI Big Font for my girlfriend's grandpa who is blind as a bat and they mistakenly sent me a DSI board that's worth $100.00 more.  At least it was a good mistake.  ;D

For those who have Shine III orders in, customs is releasing them to MK in batches based on how quickly they are inspecting them.  Josh said customs is inspecting every 40lbs box they receive before they release it to MK.

We will NOT be getting the custom space bars in for Shine 3 as Ducky decided in the final hour to add their own custom space bar with the Shine 3.  We were excited about this (just like we were excited about have the 'only' White LED Shine 2s last year), but it no longer makes sense for us to invest in these Spacebars if Ducky has basically taken the idea for themselves.

Is it just a custom design they have, or is it a non-standard stem layout (like the older Leopolds)?

The stem layout should be the same.  It's just a different space bar style (not a snake) that allows less light through with a more simplistic design.

they're different stem. the stock one is much more reinforced than the other one, forcing me to directly never use the alt one ever...and that I think i will eventually not want the 3color spacebar and use something pbt /color painted insted

Well, I got my Ducky Shine III, and I find that it's defective.  Bummer.  When I attempt to type on it, it will suddenly stop displaying characters and then suddenly go into turbo repeat mode giving me a string of characters (usually the "f" key).

A sentence wil        fffffffffffffffffffffff

Basically, it will look just like above.  Sucks.  Also, I see what people were saying about the replacement spacebar.  It's unusable anyway.  Ducky quality took a little dive here.  Hopefully, I can get a replacement soon.  Not have good luck with keyboards lately it seems.  Only positive is the red backlighting looks phenomenal.

Apparently you can upgrade firmware on the Shine 3 - maybe that will help.

Or maybe not.

"Or maybe not" was the right answer.

This'll be getting shipped back probably tomorrow or by next week hopefully.  I'm glad that MK has another shipment coming in, so hopefully I can just swap it for another one.  Overall, I like the way the keyboard looks, I just need a good working one.

Saw some more of the full size coming in. Assuming still no lingering hint that we'll magically have some with clear switches since nobody seems to be able to keep those in production lately  :'(

How would one go about pre-ordering one of the Shine 3 Magentas with some MX Brown action? I see people mentioning pre-ordering around the place but haven't been able to locate how aside from a mention that a system was soon to be implemented. Looks like these are expected in any time now so I'll keep checking the site

I am currently hesitating between a Filco Majestouch 2 TKL and your beautiful Ducky Shine 3 TKL available soon, but I noticed that as I live in France, the price of shipping is up to $26.55 and that's a lot ! :/
So, the problem is not to pay that amount but after. If I have a problem like Tempest790 (a few posts above) due to shipping or an internal problem happening during the factory fabrication with a switch/spacebar/other, shall I re-pay the 26$ for shipping the Keyboard back to have another one working?

I trust the Ducky quality by 100% but the first release of the keyboards may maybe have some troubles, don't they?
It's my main apprehension.

The TKL is essentially the same thing as the full-size Shine 3.  It shouldn't have any higher of a failure or malfunction rate than any other Shine 3 or previous Ducky Shine 2 for that matter.  They're all made in the same factory....same as Filco if I'm not mistaken.  Question is, if your board does happen to be part of the 5%(or less) that do malfunction, will you be able to get RMA service from a local Ducky reseller/distributor in France.

Only 5%? Thank you for reassuring me (for the first Ducky TKL's release) ! :D
I know that the TKL version is already the same as the full-size but I wasn't sure if the PCB was made by the same process between the both.

And unfortunately, I highly doubt that I could find any Ducky reseller even in a specialised store.
I do not find any in Bordeaux, more than that, the guys looked at me with a huge eyes describing their ignorance when I asked if they have any mechanical keyboard. And some Cyborg and Razer Blackwidow apart, there are no ANSI layout more than that... Maybe in Paris. But if I do not find in Bordeaux, I think that it will be the same in Paris... :(

The choice is so low for us franchies.

I'm sure UK and Finland have some resellers.  It may still cost the same to ship there.....but the turn-around should be faster.

Thanks for the tip. I don't even think about the UK, seems be a legit idea.
And so, if I have any trouble with a Ducky, I can send my Ducky and a bill that proves that I bought one and they send another one (the reseller I mean)?
Like that I will have a working Ducky even if didn't get a refund for shipping the KB there.

You need to check with the UK reseller first.  They may only do it if it's a UK layout board for example.  Not sure what their rules are but you should call them to make sure.

Is there a difference between the UK and the ANSI layout? I wish an ANSI one.

Do you have a name of  a good English reseller please ? :)
