Where are you in the UK if you don't mind me asking? Also did you have to pay any customs charges?

Mine have not arrived yet.  Space bars arrived last week.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I can't say I am that bothered but my blue set has 2 'D' and no 'S'  :))
My 'O' is also a different shade of blue

Is there anything being done about missing caps/incorrect caps etc?

It looks very "Day[9]"-ish to me.

I'm not sure what day-9 is, google tells me he is a pro Starcraft player but that's as far as I got! The caps feel really nice to type on, it's probably just because I'm so excited to get them, but they feel better than the stock Poker 2 keys. They are tight to fit, but I got them on without any problems at all. I've been wanting to do a stripe since I got my Poker, looks great imho and really suits my corner desk set up  :thumb:

He was a professional Starcraft player, but that was a while ago. He's a caster and event organizer now. See this screenshot from his online show "The Day[9] Daily", and look at the colour scheme used in the logotype and the episode title. That's what I meant.

6x stems for universality:

http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=47831.msg1153731#msg1153731

And they are 6.25x space bars available separately.

There is a 7x space bar in the set, but it has really weird stems.

Look back through this thread for pictures.

Something I spotted the instant mine arrived — the massive asterisk symbol (which I love). I recognised it immediately as matching the corresponding keycap of my Oriental Tech OK-100M keyboard from 1991 or 1992.

Here's a comparison — NIB 1991/1992 keycaps top, group buy keycaps below:

48203-0

So there we have it. 22 years of double-shot production! I've since realised that a lot of keycaps match exactly, including the Focus FK-2001 and at least one OmniKey. Other keyboards match sufficiently to suggest the same keycap OEM.

Looks like we've been using their doubleshots for a long time without realising who they are.

Of course, it could be that another company set up doubleshot tooling with the exact same font, symbols, spacing etc, but that seems rather unlikely. Most keys match, including the exact size and shape of the arrows on the arrow keys.

So there we have it. 22 years of double-shot production! I've since realised that a lot of keycaps match exactly, including the Focus FK-2001 and at least one OmniKey. Other keyboards match sufficiently to suggest the same keycap OEM.

Looks like we've been using their doubleshots for a long time without realising who they are.

Of course, it could be that another company set up doubleshot tooling with the exact same font, symbols, spacing etc, but that seems rather unlikely. Most keys match, including the exact size and shape of the arrows on the arrow keys.

That would go some way towards explaining their surprisingly high quality - that they have been going for years and it is not (necessarily) a new startup.

It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Yes, they seem to have done this for a long time:

http://www.tai-hao.com/english/company.htm

I knew about that — as far as I know, it was my sample photos at DT that (directly or indirectly) tipped off Elton that he could arrange a group buy ; ) I was investigating Alps clones and discovered that the company that made the switches in question, also made doubleshot keycaps. Felly at Tai-Hao offered to send some sample keycaps along with my sample switches, so I made sure to demonstrate them. I was not seriously expecting anyone to even notice, so I was really surprised when I found out that there was an interest check running for them!

I'm really glad how well this worked out for everyone. Elton's done a great job with this — I'm really pleased he picked it up.

I just didn't realise how widespread their keycaps were at one point. Another little nugget of knowledge to write up on the wiki when I get chance.

BTW, from what I understand, they do have Mac tooling too.

My sets finally arrived today, really nice change from the QFR stock caps. Really just makes me wish I ordered all the colours when the GB was still running...

Can't wait for round two, particularly if we can get ISO keys in there as well. Some WoR mods would be great... Poor man's Red Alert anyone?

That's interesting, Daniel.  I've also been wondering for some time whether Tai Hao can also produce keycaps for alps, since technically they make some alps switches, and their 7x spacebars that originally came with these MX sets also include alps stabilizer parts.  Given that there is a scarcity of Alps caps--could Tai Hao become a source?

They do produce ALPs key caps.  From the beginning they gave me an option of either MX or ALPs.

Alps market would be even smaller than Topre.

Wonder if the MOQ is the same.

Yes, but there's been a long-standing Alps cap set thread started by Calavera.  When we have this company that already makes alps caps and doesn't charge a lot for their sets.  So  say instead of $9 a set, you paid 3x as much to meet the MOQ for Alps caps--it'd still be cheaper than anything from SP.  Even 4-6x as much.  Now divide their MOQ by 6, and you might have enough people ordering some shiny new Alps sets.

And everyone would get 6 sets as well, not just pay 6 times as much for a set.

This becomes especially interesting with upcoming customs which are compatible with Alps.

Elton, I have received my spacebars, but not my sets (they were shipped in November to Spain), is that normal? I guess that the surface mail is a bit slow and probably I don't have to worry about it.

BTW, the yellow colour of the spacebar has surpassed all my expectations!

I would appreciate it if any thing could be done, otherwise, I am very happy with them!
