Hey all! Since watermelon is the greatest fruit in the world, I decided to try my hand at making a set. These will be PBT with colored dyesubs. Any suggestions or criticism is greatly appreciated.

Note: Since there's been a few requests for pink alphas, I'll leave the below image here also. If there's enough interest, I can separate the alphas from modifiers, so there can be options for white or pink alphas. Biggest concern is that it will need to reach minimum order quantity. However, I don't plan on have multiple modifiers kits, as I want to have as little amount of kits as necessary.

Q & A:

Q: Where would this group buy be run?
A: Undecided, but open to suggestions.

Q: Why not ABS?
A: Wasn't a huge fan of the colors. PBT colors fit this set much better.

Q: Where is the [something] kit?
A: I'm open to making more kits if there is enough interest.

Q: Why the pastel colors?
A: I personally prefer the pastels and also think there aren't enough kits currently that are more subtle.

Q: Why are the alphas white and not pink?
A: I wanted a keyset that was more subtle and inspired by the aesthetic of watermelon, rather than one that just illustrates a watermelon slice.

Definitely open to any suggestions on novelties for those that feel it may be lacking. I purposely went the minimalist route, so the watermelon theme isn't super blatant.

The plan was to keep 2 separate sets, since I feel most people may not want the 1u caps kit. All the basics are in the first one, but I can combine them if there seems to be equal interest in both.

I've been getting this question quite a lot. I purposely strayed away from making the keyset an illustration of a watermelon and went with something more subtle.

I believe you would just need the base kit and adapter kit.
EDIT: Actually, I just realized the right shift on the fc660m is a 2.25 shift. There isn't a kit with an extra of those.

The watermelon rinds maybe, but pretty much anything works (I'd use them for the thumb keys of the atreus, but they could also work on boards with 1.5 ctrl and alt).

Are there any plans for maybe supporting alps too?

Lookin great but as some folks (me too) want pink alphas why don't do a pink alpha set/kit. It is to much white, if you use the set on a white k-board. If this GB happend, have to get a 550 Paracord Watermelon sleeved USB cable to match the keycaps set.

Well one issue is you can't dyesub white onto pink. Unless you wanted some other color of alpha? I personally like white caps on white keyboards though

With a little advice from janglad, I was able to make a nice render! I've updated the first post with a new image. There has also been a slight color tweak from red RCF to RCM after seeing the results in renders.

I'd be interested in an Alps Ergodox set. It looks like they ran out of Alps caps on the Infinity Ergodox drop and quite a few people have posted about it - maybe it would be possible to capitalize on that.

I think it'd look pretty good with 3A and 3C for colors, actually! But, not a huge fan of the positioning/font of the lettering on GMK personally.

In reaction of the vote having higher MX results (kinda normal): do realize that the amount of people actual going trough with the purchase after voting will most likely be significantly higher for the ALPS voters (and silent folllowers). Simply due to the fact that MX folks have near unlimited options whereas ALPS users nearly get no cool keycaps options ever.

Also, just realized how awesome the 2U caps with the watermelon seeds will look on the ergodox, since they sit right next to eachother they will form an actual watermelon, pure dead awesome!!  can't wait!

honestly I like the second set a lot better, the dark alphas work well. The color scheme on the first is nice, but the amazingly low contrast is annoying.

I hope all the "no thanks" answers are a joke. I mean I almost selected it because it was funny but didnt' want to add to the numbers. Then saw it was in #2nd place  But Cherry only is in the lead with over 200 votes so I think I am not too worried about seeing this become a reality. I will absolutely buy a MX full set along with 1x novelties set and 1x alternate novelties set in 1u (should be able to properly populate a 6.5x spacebar bottom row that way)

Man when I signed up here I told myself I'm not buying any caps, boards only, that lasted long time...
