I know it's pretty late to implement changes, but here are some of my thoughts/suggestions:
Base Kit
- Since you're including the bottom row 1u flower icon novelty into base kit, you might as well do the same for the 1.25u 'Super' keys so the novelties on bot row in base kit are inclusive for the majority of users (similar to GMK Dandy). Cull the 1u and 1.25u 'super' keys is what I would choose to do instead, if you're not going to put those bot row novelties into the extension kit.
- Move the R1 accent flower novelty from the extension kit to base. You've already cut the numpad out of base, so 1 extra 1u key shouldn't hurt overall cost too much and make the base kit more appealing. I don't want to buy the extension kit to get an accent esc novelty key. If you had to sacrifice or swap it to the extension, consider F13.
- If you can, 1 extra R4 Alt 1u key would be nice for HHKB compatibility, but they can substitute those 1u alts with the novelty keys if necessary.
Extension Kit
- Consider adding 1u R2, R3 novelty to the extension kit to cover the navkeys as well. It would function as a novelties extension kit for 65/75% users, and add extra interest into it.
- If I was a 40s user (I'm not), I would prefer an accent colour R2 esc key instead
- If I was a 40s user (I'm not), I would appreciate a R2 accent flower novelty over the Esc key but I have a strong preference/bias towards novelties vs standard legends for Esc keys.
- I believe the 1.75u backspace on R3 is misplaced and should be on R2 instead?
- The accent novelty enter in the Extension looks great but super-detailed. It does not look within doubleshot tolerances. Of course UV-printed is an option...
How do you call Korea home but name the kit after the japanese word
I'm surprised you're the first to ask this here, so here's the explanation: the word for cherry blossoms in Korean is 벚꽃 (pronounced but-ggot), a shortened version of the name of the fruit, which we used to call 버찌 (buh-jji). Now we just call the fruit 체리 like the rest of the world, but we kept the old word for cherry blossoms.
I don't know about you but calling a set GMK Butt doesn't sound as appealing to me haha.
I do agree that Kura is way easier to remember, but 'Beotkkot' wouldn't really make me thing of 'Butt'.
It does feel odd to see Hangul sublegends only with a JP name, but yeah cherry blossoms aren't a Japan only thing. Maybe if you had made the base kit with hiragana sublegends (I know it's a contentious decision for those who prefer latin only for a more minimal aesthetic), it would match more thematically.
I wish you the best with the upcoming GB!
I'll be interested in seeing how this set goes given that you've decided to go with GMK in the current market, with the decision to cut numpad out of base kit to reduce its base kit price, whilst also separating the Hangul sublegend alphas.
