Model M right Shift key problem
« on: Sat, 25 January 2014, 13:06:49 »
Hello,

has anyone else here ever had problems with their right shift keys on one of these keyboards? Mine has recently caused me some worries. Namely, when I press on the right hand side it would get stuck, probably by the tilt. I have been able to mitigate the problem by putting a small amount of silicone grease in both holes, but the key now sort of feels mooshy and I get the feeling that if I don't fix the underlying cause, I will subject it to excessive wear.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Whatever the problem is, lubrication is not likely to be the solution.

Could you attach a photo with the key removed?

If it is an old one (pre-1989) with a wire stabilizer, did you verify that the stabilizer was properly seated under the hold-down tabs?

And here is something else, from the good folks over at Deskthority:

They may have gagged Trump.
They didn’t gag me.
They can’t gag me.
I have no gag reflex.
I am ungaggable.
I have trained my whole life for this.
