I do believe as well that all keycap set with "alert" in their title should include the alert in the base kit out of respect for the concept. Including an alert child kit and just don't call the base kit "GMK XXX Alert" would be fine too.ty for the input! im was referencing other alert style sets and they have the accent row in a child kit. green alert, red alert, blue alert all have the accent row in a child kit. some of course have it in the base kit. rn the ic is looking like people want the accent row in the base kit, and to move the beige number row to a child kit and i have no problem with doing that!
But that's just concept coherence, the set is still nice !

I see several other comments mirroring my thoughts. An Alert set shouldn't be called Alert at all without the Alert row being included in the base. Call this GMK Citrus and then you can have an "Alert" kit...I haven't purchased any other Alert set that doesn't have the Alert row in the base, and I find it completely disingenuous to call this an Alert set. I'm glad to see you're considering changing it. I know I wouldn't even consider purchasing this with it's current name and the Alert part of it as an add-on.yup already noted

Looking at the numbers for GMK Blue Alert and GMK Green Alert it's pretty clear most people want the alert row. I think putting it in base is the best move.

Have you considered using GMK V2 instead of RAL 2008? Feels like you'd save a lot of pain on color matching and maybe some cost for using a custom colori have. v2 wasnt the "right" orange i was looking for. gmk v1 was too red, and v2 wasnt bright enough. i used ral color book k5 semi matt to pick the orange, which is the primary color library gmk recommends for custom colors so i think the color matching will not be as diffucult as if i was using pantone

Would you consider cutting the accent 40s keys and swapping in some other common sizes (even just 1.75u enter would be good), this way the set will support more than just the Minivan layout?i was actually talking with someone is the gmk discord server and they said the same thing and provided some other 40s support options. i will add some new keys soon, just need to pick out which ones

Not to be that guy but I don't understand the trend of separating the stripe from the base kit. FTRO stripe is hard to get because they all sold out exceptionally faster than the base kits once in stock, and I feel this would be the same result if ran in a child kit. Not only that but it becomes far more expensive than just pairing it in base, and people are already going to want to attach the stripe kit so why not pair both together? I'd hate to miss out on the main gimmick once this hits in stock.
Because it'd bring the pricing of the base kit up a significant and non-negligible amount. The target is for the base kit to hit MOQ; the Blue Stripe is a luxury add-on that's happening this time around because it's possible. Totally understand wanting something in-stock that's paired together. At the same time, I think, if anything, past sales data on similar kitting shows that people prioritize a purchase on just the base, and the accents / novelties / add-ons are for those who can afford the extra luxury.
Hope that makes sense. It's unfortunately just the way it goes in making these concessions for kitting.
It's called blue alert. It's called an alert row. It's integral to the design of this set.
And I simply don't buy during gb- sorry "pre order", especially when the designer himself is worried about moq to the point where we are using separating kits as a way to ensure it hits moq even though just the base kit is definitively more plain without the stripe. Have been an in stock exclusive buyer for a while now after seeing everything this hobby has been though. I think many people would understand!
The thing is this -- it's not. The set name and that particular perception of the set do not match up. The original sets that ran with GMK years back -- Red Alert (2015, photekq & Team Hammer) and Blue Alert (2017, Originative) -- neither of them had a colored row.
This set is effectively a re-run of that set with tweaks. I purposefully named the colored accent kit a Blue Stripe kit to avoid ambiguity with people's perception of "alert". The concept of stripe is taken from DSA Skull Squadron (2014), which implemented it in a similar format.
For what it's worth, the very first set run with said "stripe" was in fact called DCS Rebel and dubbed "Red Alert" by the community. The stripe keys were simply add-on keys outside of the "full kit" and were just "inverse" colored keys. In fact, the second, GH-centric DCS run did not even have the white-on-red keys either. The idea of "Alert" is misconstrued and has changed over the years.
I actually would buy a dedicated R5 row if everything else was normal. Not sure how many sets have an R5, but I feel like it's not common.
