Why Katakana?
went with katakana instead of something like arabic because i think it supports the industrial/technical tone of the alert series more. i picked katakana instead of hiragana because hiragana looks softer than katakana which again i feel doesnt support the tone of alert theme sets. also i think that katakana doesnt overpower latin legends as much compared to arabic.

Updates
5/27/26: ty everyone who filled the ic, here are the updates so far:
- moved alert row to base kit and adjusted kitting
- added concave homing to kit; now concave and bar homing
- removed dot from numpad 5; changed to bar homing
- removed accent row child kit and replaced with alertless child kit and adjusted kitting
5/27/26: part 2, added question regarding katakana alert row to ic form
5/30/26: kitting changes for base and extensions, int kit:
  - base:
    - changed print to prt sc
    - changed 1.5 r2 backspace  to text only
    - added dark pip to base kit
    - added dot back to numpad 5
  - extensions:
    - added 2x 1u alt
    - added stepped control
  - questions added to ic to keep row 5 or change to row 4
  - for the cherry logos, currently it is evenly split for keeping modern, keeping vintage, and keeping both so no changes to them for now
  - working on an int kit, will reference gmk violet alert for kitting
  - considering using orange from gmk orenji or gmk kaiju if i will reduce the cost
6/2/26: color change, added nordeuk, alert and alertless in alpha kits
  - change original orange (ral 2008) to gmk orenji orange (pantone 1505 c). this will reduce the cost since the pantone has been made already so no need for sampling
  - added nordeuk kit based on gmk violet alert, alertless and alert row as this is an alert set
  - fixed katakaka renders and added alert row because again, this is an alert set
  - "this is an alert set"

I do believe as well that all keycap set with "alert" in their title should include the alert in the base kit out of respect for the concept. Including an alert child kit and just don't call the base kit "GMK XXX Alert" would be fine too.
But that's just concept coherence, the set is still nice !

ty for the input! im was referencing other alert style sets and they have the accent row in a child kit. green alert, red alert, blue alert all have the accent row in a child kit. some of course have it in the base kit. rn the ic is looking like people want the accent row in the base kit, and to move the beige number row to a child kit and i have no problem with doing that!

I see several other comments mirroring my thoughts. An Alert set shouldn't be called Alert at all without the Alert row being included in the base. Call this GMK Citrus and then you can have an "Alert" kit...I haven't purchased any other Alert set that doesn't have the Alert row in the base, and I find it completely disingenuous to call this an Alert set. I'm glad to see you're considering changing it. I know I wouldn't even consider purchasing this with it's current name and the Alert part of it as an add-on.

Looking at the numbers for GMK Blue Alert and GMK Green Alert it's pretty clear most people want the alert row. I think putting it in base is the best move.

Have you considered using GMK V2 instead of RAL 2008? Feels like you'd save a lot of pain on color matching and maybe some cost for using a custom color

i have. v2 wasnt the "right" orange i was looking for. gmk v1 was too red, and v2 wasnt bright enough. i used ral color book k5 semi matt to pick the orange, which is the primary color library gmk recommends for custom colors so i think the color matching will not be as diffucult as if i was using pantone
