Hello, Cherry fans!  To help raise money for the Cherry replica font project (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?28324), I am running a buy for what I'm calling the Red Cherry Set, which includes:

All red!  All in sweet, sweet Cherry replica font!  White and black variants:

DETAILS

The 1x cherry modifier key is meant to be used as a Windows key replacement on 1.5-1-1.5 keyboards (mainly Phantoms, Choc Minis, and custom Korean keyboards like the Cheat).  It should also work great on the Z-X-C-V row as shown in the mockups.

Order via this fancy google order form (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGhTZ21DQmpxUVJPbFJQWmswM1lSeUE6MQ).  If you need to change your order, please PM me.

The red we are using will be RA, to match the RGBY and red Cherry replica escapes already in circulation.  Black will be NN, and white WFK.

The cost will be fixed at [STRIKE]$25[/STRIKE] $20 per set[/B][/SIZE].  I'm not doing the price tier thing with this one -- it's a fundraiser!  So please order liberally as all leftover funds will be used to pay for legend fees in the Cherry replica font project (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?28324).  Each legend costs $45 to cut, and we need money for prototypes and iteration to make sure the Cherry replica font looks as good as it can!

I'm not setting a closing date yet.  If this proves popular, we could do sets for other keyboard forums too!

I don't care the shipping cost. Rather, my shipping charges will be much cheaper.
The problem is that SP sometimes makes keycaps more quickly than the estimated manufacturing lead time.
So, there is a possibility that the keycaps will be shipped while I am searching an apartment in the United States.

It will sort of match :)  In the image above, it does appear to look like the Ragnarok set with one major difference.  The Rag set uses 'standard' WYSE/SP fonts, whereas, the image above is a mockup of what the Cherry legend project is pursuing.

So, short story, the font used on this GB will not match the font on Rag's set.  But, the color scheme does look nice!

Yes the fonts won’t match obviously, I just took this mockup and switched white to red xD Nothing fancy. Only 2 of the 6 keys could clash with the font, so it’s no problem. Both fonts don’t clash anyway in my eyes. xD

The white cherry set can be combined with Red Alert! /e: Could someone compare the colors there?

I bet you thought there might not be any issues with this order.  Well you were wrong.  We have Cherry replica font Esc keys in place of the Cherry logo Esc keys.  The 1x modifier-row Cherry logo keys are as expected.

I'll be in contact with Melissa ASAP to figure out our options, but SP is closed on Fridays so we probably won't hear anything until next week.

yep, i think there's a lot we can do to standardize to ease her workflow. unique encodings are the key! unique, standardized IDs and distinct property names for each key. if ever there was a need for JSON/XML, this is it :D!

Yes, whites are significantly stiffer.  Greens are significantly harder to obtain, and since demik just completed his Whites GB, he has plenty of those.

The bad news: The first round of red cherries won't ship tomorrow like I was hoping.  The black sets are all sorted and accounted for, but I'm not done with the white sets yet.

The good news (for Glissant): Glissant's order is shipping tomorrow as a special case, since he's moving soon.

The good news (for the rest of you): I've dramatically improved my shipping workflow over how I shipped the moogle orders (including getting a new printer that actually works).  So my goal is to get everyone's keys out by the end of this coming week.

I could finish the white sets tonight but I'm tired lol.  Just got back into town from rescuing orphan kittens.

It is a global limitation on all keys.  So the slightly lower G and H should match full Cherry replica sets produced later.

Actually it's a good deal better than the moogle GB.  The following were all shipped out last week.  The rest, including yours, will be shipped out this week.  The few that trickled out before last week were hand deliveries to people local to me, or with whom I happened to be meeting up.  Shipping was delayed until last week because I was finishing up with moogle orders.

I still haven't done the official final math yet but I believe we raised in the neighborhood of $3000.  I'll post details soon.

I've been planning a fancy Cherry replica progress thread for some time now.  Now that shipping has wrapped for Red Cherry and moogle3 my evening hobby time is free again and maybe it'll get done. ;D

No worries, I've got some spares if I messed up your set.  You should have gotten two cherry logo keys: one F row and one modifier row.

You can enter the customs number into USPS tracking and it'll show when you dropped it off and approximately when it left the US.  It'll show the last sort facility it was at

Nothing really.  Until recently they have not been able to offer Cherry legends, which a lot of people want.  Also their keycaps are much thinner than some on the market, and some people prefer thicker keycaps.

But SP has a relatively low MOQ and caters for GH's sometimes unusual colour requests :)

One, they will NOT do the Cherry logo, I already asked them and they told me no because it's a trademark they don't own or have license to. Nothing, as others have noted.  It would be cool to have this set (or something else like it) that matched Cherry keys though, since a lot of people use Cherry/GMK sets.

These Red Cherry sets will match the SP-produced Cherry replica sets perfectly.  Can't wait until a few of those get going.

To me, the thing that made this set interesting was the Cherry logo and the geekhack/kbdmania modifiers.  A GMK-produced red G and H would be cool though.

I saw that after I posted. It is a shame but a big company is not going to retool or seek permission to print keys like that for a small hobby group.
