The thick PBT (also Cherry's 2shots/PBT) are edged pretty sharply whereas SP's keycaps are round.
I (and I'm sure there are other) dislike it. Similar as I dislike the round corners of the Leopolds vs Filcos.
I know this is a negligible aspect, but still an aspect. Depending on personal taste, though.

I was looking at the Umbrella Corp logo as well, one problem is that it's red/white on white caps, meaning a big black border would have to be incorporated into the logo, or perhaps change the white to a light-grey, but I'm not sure how that would turn out.

@ Samwise, I thought about that, missing the dots is kinda lame, but if I included it, it'd be $3 for a key with a dot in the middle... is that really worth it? That's what the original design was. If we did that it would basically double the cost of the set from having to order a really low quantity of backspace keys.

A .png will work just fine, anything bigger than 600x600 is perfect, usually the bigger the better but it has diminishing returns. Unlike with SP, it doesn't need to be a .svg.

Smallfry, if not having it in SP profile is okay with you, I would suggest contacting Imsto directly to see about commissioning him to make a couple of those, I don't imagine I'll be starting up a group buy for row 1 1x keys anytime soon since that size is really uncommon. Usually the bottom row is 1.25x or 1.5x unless I'm misunderstanding you.I was hoping for my Phantom:) but I understand and will see if I can't ping him at some point. They may be cool to have as an F row key, despite being the wrong profile I'd still use it on my row 1. I know there is quite a few Eagles around GeekHack, Hashbaz being one I recall off the top of my head.

It's too bad there's no blue dice keys for SC2 random. they make a good set together as 4! Order sent.I thought about it, but then I looked back at my group buy for them when I ran the last set of doubleshots... they had very few takers and on top of that the random logo is getting changed for HOTS to something that I didn't think I could make work. The dice has a ? mark on one of the sides. I do have a whole bunch of blank modifier keys that I'm not 100% sure what to do with now because the dyesub SC2 keysets I was working on are a no go, so I may be convinced to include a random logo with those.

If orders hit ~1,900 before the close date I'm going to double check numbers, take a few more last minute orders, and call it good just to be safe in case there aren't exactly 2000 keys. I do also plan on adding to my own order now that I've added additional keys, I just haven't decided yet. If we don't hit 2,000 by the 28th, I am just going to make my best guess as to which keys I think would be good for leftovers and fill in the remaining space with those to sell. Having watched every game with a Terran I can say that without a doubt medivac boosters are too strong. As long as the player executes them well, they win. There was maybe one game, perhaps two, its getting blurry, where they didn't result in a victory. I definitely acknowledge your point but when it gets to the level of imba where the crowd is actually booing Flash during the game for doing medivac drops, you have to know something is up. Like... nobody boo's Flash. Nobody.the counter to this point ofcourse is MC taking down all the Terrens as well as Life beating the Terrens.
Edit: Also Thorazain didn't do drops very often or well. I noticed that and attributed his loss to that. Not taking anything away from Killer though, he played really well.
I'll admit I missed MC vs Bomber this morning, but aside from that the only Terran he played was MvP... that series, MvP won his game via drops. The remaining games were all about MC preventing MvP from getting to drops and getting to do that. Those games against Polt were the same generally speaking... the entire metagame against Terran right now is stopping drops from happening, which shouldn't be the case. Its all about whether Terran gets to drop or not, and 9/10 times, they get to.we spent a year dealing with the meta being preventing zerg getting infestors/bl, its been 1 week and people qqing so hard about drops lol.

Okay so the money has been sent to Imsto, and the keycaps have arrived apparently. I'm sending him the quantities and images now. They should enter production this week!
Okay guys, so I have some bad news. Not earth shatteringly bad, but mostly bad for my wallet. It seems that the keys I bought from Signature Plastics are what most of us refer to "Row 1" aka, the zxcvb... row. I asked for "Row 4" keys, which is what most everyone calls the Esc/Fn row, but SP's numbering system is weird/different. Thus, I should have ordered their "Row 1."
TL;DR, I'm stuck with 2000 unusable keys and just ordered the correct keys from SP. That's my mistake, and I'm sorry for the delay. Unfortunately SP says they can't get them made for about 2 weeks, and then another two weeks or hopefully less if I can find faster shipping to China, for them to get to Imsto. That puts us at late May for shipping out. Basically it means everyone has to wait another month and I eat a ~$700 loss. Its still happening though, and maybe if you guys have any ideas I can have the original 2000 keys printed with some design that would make sense for the zxcv row to recoup some losses. I'm fresh out of ideas though, so if anyone has ever wanted a dyesub set/key for the bottom row, now would be a great time to speak up!
In other semi good news, the prices for blanks changed (the tiers, or else I wasn't shown them originally... I did buy these way back in August) I'm now having 2500 keys made, so there will be more extras. I haven't considered this until just now, but it is possible I could re-open orders for a while to help cover some costs and get some more people in since there will be more keys. None of the people listed earlier (iArson, abc123asd, Scirocco, sokjin, Techniichan, Wirer, rkishei, naturehaze, alster) have paid their invoices still, so I'm still short the original amount planned by about $400.
To all those haters who said I'm doing this for money, I'm now losing money on this whole deal, but I will spend my own money to get these keys made for everyone because they're that awesome. And no I don't want donations, thanks though. :P

So what row are your caps for sorry?The bottom 2 rows of the keyboard, AKA the closest 2 to you. One houses the zxcvbnm,./ etc keys, and they also fit the arrow cluster. They do also fit the bottom row on keyboards that have a 1x key as a modifier. The Cheat keyboard comes to mind with this:

Do your keys match the Cherry B profile? Because some 1x mods for the 1.5x/1x/1.5/7x crowd would be nice - you could even repeat designs from the initial offering (the MGS fox design would be pretty sweet for this application).

The only issue I have is that I don't really want 50 million people adding them to their order because then I have to send out all new invoices to those people. We were lucky that the original art was saved by some very forward thinking GH members last time. Only thing is, I'm going to do it by just adding on questions to the end, so can I trust you guys to pay attention to which ones are Fn Row and which are ZXCV? In the current form there's only 1 switch between them, with the new one it'll go back and forth. I have to do it that way or I have to reorganize the response spreadsheet and that might break everything.

Not sure if I mentioned this earlier, but SP got the keys to me a few days early and I shipped them to Imsto on the 22nd.
I'm hoping by the end of May, though I haven't pressed him for a production time. Its a lot of work obviously, so my guess is at least 1-2 weeks. Couple that with another 2 weeks transit time back to me, and its going to be at least a month from now till the keys are back in my hands and ready to ship out to you guys.
Just FYI, once they're done and I've got pictures of the finished product, I will hopefully be opening preorders for the leftovers because last time that went pretty smoothly. I think I figured out a good way to do it without confusing them with the original orders. It does depend on whether I get pictures from Imsto in advance of him shipping them though, since when they get here it will be my priority to get everything shipped out and not taking leftover orders.
When would we get hold of the keys? I can't wait! If production ends roughly the end of May, does that mean we'll receive the keys early June?

Heh, since I'm spending the majority of my time in Canada this summer it seems, I might just take the Canadian orders with me across the border and mail them in country, since they'll get there sooner. (It won't save anyone any money, myself included, but its faster.) What I mean by that is that I'll likely be heading back up to Canada immediately after I finish mailing these out, so the +1 day on me driving up to Canada and mailing them the next day is less than it will be for the mail transit time.
This is all hypothetical at this point, but I'll keep you guys posted, and even if that happens, anyone that wants me to mail them from the US I can.

I dunno... Last time we talked it was all about shipping and that was after he mentioned he was working on them. My guess is that he is waiting until he's made at least one of each so he doesn't have to send me pics multiple times. He did also give an estimate on time, should be 1-2 more weeks, and I'm not sure if that includes shipping/transit time. So we could be getting close!

I did get an update from him today, sounds like he's still working on the keys, and has a couple of questions for me on some of the designs. He says he's going to email me those shortly (expecting within 24 hours) and from there he'll probably be able to finish up the keys. Because I'm literally planning my living arrangements around it, I'm putting the conservative estimate on when they get to me at 3 weeks, depending on how fast his shipping goes. It was 2 weeks getting to him, but usually things coming from China get here faster. I dunno though.
I will keep you updated as I know more. I sent him all the images in the exact format he asked for, but it seems like its still been quite a bit of work to get them to look right on keys. Also he says "I'd been deadly busy with my work and even got no time for sleep these days." and when someone in an Asian country says that, you know they mean it. :/
I told him take his time and do it right, because I'm pretty sure we all care about quality over timeliness around here. :P

It seems like perhaps you should stick with eBay and on-line stores instead of participating in group buys here. Based on your posts in the Sindarin GB (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=38264.msg956064#msg956064) thread. If you are letting these delays get to you that much, that'd be your solution. GBs can take months, some have taken years. It's already been explained to you what it takes to do a GB, so I won't be adding any more than you already know.

the syndarin set is the first group buy that i really wanted to participate in, and i wasn't used to the pace because i never did anything of that nature before. i checked the thread daily for a few months, and i naturally got more annoyed as months went by... and i ultimately just flamed once, and regretted it soon after. i'd appreciate it if you could be a little forgiving.

I dunno, BMO looks pretty darn good in person. I think the color is a bit off in the picture and the details are a bit harder to see. I set my camera up on a tripod with a remote this time so the pictures came out really good overall, but my lens wouldn't zoom just a bit more to be perfect.

You should receive an email confirmation to the email you submitted in the form, AKA your Paypal email. Many users use multiple emails, so don't forget to check that email for shipping updates.
*Remember that tracking is not available for international orders, it will stop being tracked when it leaves the US.

Hmm, at 5,50$ for single leftover keys I'll have to pass and stick to my original order. I have everything I want already :)Yeah that definitely is the reason for the higher than I wanted leftover prices... After all this I should be able to get close, but without the ~240 keys I'm missing from the leftovers surprise I mentioned, probably not. :/

Okay so I'm just going to concede defeat and give up on getting these shipped out this week. There's just no way I can with the amount of school work I have built up from not doing it earlier this week when the keys got in. They should go out mid next week or so, since I get back in town Sunday night and start school at ~10am and it goes till 4PM each day and there's no way I'm going to finish these in time for that. Sorry guys, hope that's alright but school comes first.no problem at all man, your education should be top priority.

Just an update, I've managed to get some orders packed, but not a whole lot. I've had maybe 3-4 hours total over the last 3 days to get some work done. I really need a weekend to work on it, so hopefully I'll have some major updates for you guys soon.
Most orders are packed, I've got enough that you should start seeing shipping notifications tomorrow. Probably won't make it to the post office, but the labels will be made. Its midterm week this week and next, so I'm trying to find the time where I can.

Exam went well. Been working on them since I woke up this morning. I'll give you guys the full story tomorrow, right now I'm working on getting all of them shipped out tomorrow, if not that then as many as possible.

Yeah, I had to have it done Thursday before I left for Seattle at 5pm. 46 page report done in 6 hours. Single spaced 11pt font. Lots of tables but yeah. Not joking. I have another take home exam due tomorrow by 5 that I put off to get the packing/sorting done, so I may not make it to the post office tomorrow, but I'm hopeful since one of my classes is cancelled as a result and I might have the time. If not then I'm shooting for Tuesday and I can go in the morning before class. As some of you may have noticed, a partial wave of keys went out today. Mostly the first ones to order and some that ordered from both forms since I did those all at once to get them out of the way... they closed before I could get the rest done.
The rest should go out tomorrow, I'm shooting for getting there early in the morning before I have to go to class.

If yes, that's normal because USPS only tracks the packages as long as they stay in the US. My last update is from October 8th in Los Angeles, but I hope it will arrive in Germany soon :)
