Haha I was just kidding, I also prefer non-italics, but the doubleshots were cheap and the font wasn't the end of the world for me like it seemed to be for some people :p

You are right. Here at GH are individuals more inclined to the practical side and see keyboards as input devices, but there are others more in the perfectionist side of aesthetics. Both live perfectly in peace here. :)

A shame, a little bit in the tall side for my liking. But it is cool to know they developed the molds and process parameters settings to get the PBT flowing inside those small cavities to make DS on PBT feasible, for a small parts as caps.

Well they already had doubleshot PBT caps before they just were all white base with color legends (the legends were italicish....), at least these have color mods and a little different font.

Anyways, these sets have improved legends and have 2tone color schemes. The fact that they cost $30 more is nothing to cry about, in my opinion. $74 for a set of doubleshot, 2tone, thick PBT isn't bad. Can't really compare the prices to the older sets, since these are very different products.

Are these available from any European vendor? I'd really like an orange and white set, but don't want to pay to ship from the states.
It just seems silly to pay shipping to US plus US import plus US vendor markup and then also Int'l shipping plus Finnish tax plus Finnish customs duty and have to go to the customs office to wait in long queues to pay and collect the package... for a set of keycaps. If they're available from within Europe I pay just shipping and tax (on top of shipping to EU, import and EU vendor markup), no customs and they arrive within a day or two in my postbox. Cheaper, quicker and much more convenient.

Please clarify the previous allegations that double shot key caps can only be done with ABS plastic. I'm seeing a lot of mumbo jumbo on how there are shrinkage issues with doing double shots on PBT plastic. Is Vortex's line of double shot PBT caps truly PBT? What's going on here? Did they figure out the universal secret to manufacturing perfect double shot PBT caps?

SP has made some doubleshot PBT caps, but no full sets AFAIK. This is the second round of Vortex doubleshot PBT caps and I suspect they went with an easier to make, thin font for the first set so they could test out the process.

I'd be interested to know the density of these caps. That way we could confirm if they're pure PBT or a blend. Either way, I think they pretty cool, if only the colors were a little more clear. Naw I swear it's off centered to the right and it's bothering me :PThey are slightly biased to the right, but it doesn't bother me personally. I actually think it might even be intentional.
Either way I'm not a fan of the legends :( maybe in the future if they fix it I'll consider picking up the sets I want.

I can do a water test confirmation. I have an ABS double shot coming in soon. So I can set up a comparison with my double shot PBT Vortexes.
In a recent comparison though, I feel like Vortex's PBT double shots have a smoother more ABS feel than traditional PBT such as on a Realforce. Dunno. I mean, it's a different story for the Model M, those are PBT dye sub, but they are smooth textured (at least on mine).
Anyways, will update when I do the water test.

So I did performed a water test on my ABS double shot compared to my Vortex PBT double shot. The Vortex dropped instantly while the ABS dropped slower like it was floating down (almost like how a feather falls through the air). I also dropped a PBT from a Realforce kb and a PBT from a Model M and they both did the same as the Vortex. Confirmed that it's PBT.

as an owner of many Cherry keyboards, I can assure you that NOTHING is compatible with that ridiculous off center space bar except... stuff built by Cherry and other commercial companies. Access-IS, WEY, Reuters, etc also have off center space bars.Are you sure that this Space Bar does not have a double stem coupling?
