Pacifist was unable to go to China, and thus he asked me to run the Group Buy, and here I am!

After seeing the Interest Check numbers and talking to the manufactures, we are plenty over the MOQ the manufactures require, thus putting the price at:

One cover will be 5 cents each, 100 will be 5 dollars, 104 will be $5.20, etc.

The colors are:
Blue
Red
Yellow
Orange
Purple
Light Green
Dark Green

There were talks of other colors, but those will not be in the Group Buy.

I have to say,
MUCH CHEAPER THAN WHAT IS SHOWN IN TAOBAO!
This GB is around 3 RMB (Chinese dollars) for 10 pieces, and in taobao, it's 4.5 RMB.

But fyi, the cover could reduce the brightness and only works well with WHITE LED.
So if you have a QF TK, or trigger(whose LEDs could burn your eyes), or you find some godlike LEDs, those covers work pretty well!

Yes, we got them to lower their prices significantly due to a variety of reasons. Group buy, not buying through taobao, etc.

In the Interest Check thread, we have already determined that only white LEDs work with this.
It works extremely well with duckys, just look at the picture in the Interest Form.

The timeline is long because I am going to China in the Summer of next year, and I believe its better to start early and end late then start late and end early.

I just ordered 220 of each color, but if the cherry profile is an issue I might retract.

What do you mean by cherry profile novelty cap? A keycap by Signature Plastic in DCS profile (close to cherry profile) or a real thick doubleshot cherry key?

If those covers are indeed compatible with all types of keycaps I'll probably take a full set of each color :)

I ordered some of these from Taobao and they arrived today. I have a ducky shine 3 tkl with white leds (of course). The leds on the ducky are certainly bright enough for these covers. It does dim the brightness, but they were too bright to begin with, in my opinion.

No clearance issues. Only downside- had to file down one of the covers for the spacebar. Wasn't a big deal though, took all of 5 minutes, maybe.

When I ordered these, some of the colors were sold out, so I'm definitely ordering more here! Thanks for the awesome GB.

I like this! Do they distribute light better? What I mean is say for example you put a blue one on a blue LED, would it shine through a cap more evenly? So something like this doesn't look so bright in one spot?(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/27/da2eje9u.jpg)

yeah i'd be great to have a guide on color mixing. i have a green LED and would like to know how does it look like under Red/Orange and Purple. If anyone could do it :) it'll be much appreciated

They fit fine on my girlfriend's Ducky Shine 2 with white LEDs.

You guys can send the link to Qtan and he'll proxy them to you. I believe $8 is the shipping cost + whatever the fees of his service is and the cost of your items.

Make sure you're both on the same page of how many individual LED covers you're getting. I ordered from him and he sent me multiple wrong items / missing items.
It was both our faults for not double checking the cost and making sure every item was the correct ones you want.

Just specify in the notes that the address is changing and when its time to ship, I will ask you for the updated address, otherwise I will ship to whatever address you put down.

You can go find a proxy. But the costs are not only higher due to proxies, but you don't get group buy prices.

You do not have to send another form. I will note this name error in my records. You haven't been sent an invoice yet because I haven't had time to update all invoices. Most invoices will be sent at the longest two weeks after submitting an order, and most will take a week to send.

A status update:

I will be busy this week with work. But I will update all invoices by Sunday of next week.

Also, I would like to hear everybody's opinion if they want to make the deadline earlier. Making the deadline earlier is all possible thanks to Shadovved, who is helping to proxy and ship the orders.
If we make the deadline earlier, it will most likely be around January 7th to 14th.

The timestamp for you was 12/8/2013 12:38:53, a week ago. But you are first in line when I send out invoices next weekend. Work is bogging me down.
For future reference, the last edited date for the third reply in this thread is when I updated all the current invoices at that time.

They probably would impede the full range of motion for something like Cherry profile thick plastic keycaps for sure.  Even 3mm flat top LEDs bump into those caps a bit (from the outer side).  Unsure about DSA.

IIRC, 14th was the original date. Then OP added the 31st statement in somewhat more emphasized terms, and appears to have overlooked the older (earlier) date. I'd assume the intention was to extend by two weeks

Actually you'd be incorrect. Earlier in the thread the OP asked if we wanted to make the deadline earlier so we'd get them faster, and we agreed. So he changed the deadline from the 31st to the 14th, but still kept in the original date for some reason so I can see where there'd be confusion if you didn't read that part of the thread.

I wouldn't say typical of GB's here, just need to be careful when dealing with people who haven't had experience doing them or haven't been vetted, etc.

Eh, I offered to help him ship all the non CONUS orders since SG shipping was cheap for lighter items and I was shipping stuff from China to SG anyways (my aunt lives in China), and he didnt have to bring as much back to US.

That's all that happened between us, the final replies given to me were non-committal and vague with regard to end-dates, hence I told him to contact me whenever he was ready to take me up on the offer, and it sorta faded away since end-Nov and I assumed that the buy was just not completed yet but I did not expect it to turn into this..........

If you can find them on taobao, they're about $0.75 for a set of 10, then just find a proxy that you can buy and ship to you.

Thanks asdfghjklkjasdf, I'd found the taobao page previously, but prefer to buy things in US$ from a place that can deal with the shipping themselves. It is 18 cents per key instead of 5, but I'll actually get them in a reasonable time.

^^ Obviously even well established members can run into issues, the OP in question here had only been here one month when this started. I've seen new people run successful buys but its something to think about before you join. It would be wise for everyone to think about who you send your money to and how you send it.

I googled that some time ago. His paypal balance will go negative and (depending on the country) they send debt collectors.

Well, I just bought a bunch of these at engtaobao.com.  They come 10 per box ($0.75 each) and I bought 11 boxes each of 7 different colors  ($0.75 * 11 = $8.25 per color * 7 colors = $57.75 total + $3.33 fee + 3.5% Visa card fee = $63.22 grand total so far) (did not buy WHITE (8th) color).  I'll still have to pay for shipping from China to US and I'll let folks know how it turns out.  Had to do it.  My Ducky Shine III is crying out for these.   :p

Someone from the subreddit used this source to buy color changers as well. They got them on time. Hopefully it works out  :thumb:

They work okay; I got mines last week. The group buy on MassDrop for this is coming pretty soon for those of you who don't want to use a proxy service.

The only thing I'd say about these is that the weaker your LEDs are in terms of brightness, the less appealing these may be to you. I thought my Ducky Shine II had pretty bright white LEDs, but after putting these on the colors aren't as bright as I thought they'd be. Perhaps the Ducky Shine III and YotS have brighter LEDs than the II version? I couldn't find any information on the internet to confirm this though.

Very cool.  I opened a manual claim today.  Apparently, you have to actually phone them and work this through voice communication with an actual human at Paypal.  I worked with Valerie who was very helpful.  I, too, had gifted the jerkface.  PayPal is telling me that if the jerkface does not respond in a few days I'll get my money back.  Thanks for the tip!

I received my order yesterday.  Everything was there EXCEPT for a few packs of one color but there seems to be some confusion concerning the "pink" and "purple" colored parts.  They are very closely colored until you have light shining through them.  So, I sent them an email about how I am short 7 of the 11 10-packs of the "purple" items that I ordered.

In my opinion, they look good.  Yes, they mute the brightness a bit as was expected but I actually prefer muted lighting to blindingly bright.  I already had my LEDs on a very low setting, so, for me, I was just able to turn them up a bit and be satisfied.

I tried to take some pictures but they just don't do them justice.  The colors are:

Q = Blue
W = Green
E = Purple (I think)
A = Red
S = Orange
D = Yellow
Z = Pink (I think)

All of the colors are much more vivid in person.  Probably my photography skills.  :)

I just got a box of them too and you're right, I think the material that these are made from are not meant to be used in this way or are just poor at projecting the colors. They should've gone with something more transparent like this: [attachimg=1]

FYI, I received my refund from PayPal for the "gift" I had sent to the scumbag thief that started this fake group buy.  It was a bit satisfying to hear that they "recovered" the funds from him.  Weather they were actually able to get the money from the dirtbag or if they simply had to take it in the shorts, I can't say.  But I have my $$$ back.

I spoke with a representative from Paypal and because I payed with Paypal balance instead of with a credit card, I was unable to get my money back. I did however make sure that he took the necessary steps to get his account closed and he said that if it turns out that everything goes as planned, then money MIGHT be sent back to people's accounts.  :thumb:
