damn GON is overwhelming me more lol! The HHKB, to me, doesn't look good at all but am willing to get it if I find nothing that compels me to buy something else. Still trying to see other's opinion on other keyboards.
LMAO!!!
For some reason The poker 2 seems like a good keyboard for it's upgradability. I'm kinda torn between the poker 2 and HHKB =(

And that new software he's released for programming looks great. Can't wait to get my hands on a 60% pcb to try it out.
HHKB is a flexible, cheap feeling toy in comparision, IMHO. It's one of the best Topre switch boards, although I would say the Leopold FC660C is actually a little better in terms of solidity and feel. They both have 45g switches, but the Leopold ones feel slightly harder and more consistent. The HHKB layout is controversial, most love it, some don't. I don't, mainly due to the arrow keys and lack of programmability, so you can't redesign the Fn layer.

Why no mention of Realforce?
No one suggested a KMAC?

One thing for the OP to consider is also replacement key caps to go with this no expense spared keyboard purchase.Scarface! (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=43010.msg873793#msg873793)

Now what did I do with my Farnsworth?
HHKB > RealforceIn terms of price, maybe. In terms of layout, that is up to each individual. Reλlforce has individual switch housings in a steel plate where the HHKB has a cheaper, lighter plastic barrel plate like a cheap keyboard.
Depends on how much of a man you are.Yep: custom model F or hall effect.

hard to beat. All these pansy cherry keyboards with their LED backlighting and their aluminium cases. I present as an alternative "real steel" of model F and honeywell hall effect.
Note that hall effect switches are rated for thirty billion actuations, which is about a thousand times more than cherry.
Ok, I got it you need a tungsten carbide case and plate, neodymium optical switches, synthetic ruby keycaps with tritium backlight. Oh and a graphene PCB

someone mentioned replacement keycaps? If I was to go with GON? would I buy it there or is there somewhere else? Sorry I'm such a noob at this.
Money is of no concern.Give me a million dollars and six months, and I promise I can make you something one-of-a-kind.

I wonder what magnets would feel like for switches. Tritum backlight also sounds interesting, you'd need to put a glass tube in for each switch...or actually you may need a glass "panel" full of tritium for each switch to be sufficiently lit.

Alright looking at "GON NS NerD 60 /w Tuning&Assembly" just a couple of questions:
For the Switch Tuning: What would you guys recommend?
Researching about mx clears: now I'm torn between blues and clears. What would you guys rec?
LED tuning: Does side LED mean leds on the side of the keyboard only? If i wanted leds on the keycaps..Should I just in switch led?
Sorry I just want it to be perfect before I make an order

Fantastic choice! Personally there is none better! There is a limited run of the Happy version. Which has a few less keys and ISO enter. That's the one I'm getting built right now.
I go with clears lubed in all of my boards! 62g springs are what I'm getting in my GON.
I am doing switch only LEDs. If you want a ton of flashy show then get the side LEDs too. I'd rather have it be more subtle. Enjoy!
Huge ass keyboard... and I doubt anyone here has actually reached the 50 million actuation rating for Cherry switches before.
Or if they have, it is a damn old keyboard.

hmm i might go with the clears. Any reason why you're going with the happy version? Do you think it's better than the one I'm trying to assemble in?
last question..In case i wanted to change the led colors of the gon maybe sometime in the possible future would it be possible to do so? would it be an easy disassemble and replacement of the led lights?
I can't seem to choose what colors I'd want so im just going for white for now.

Not an easy disassemble/reassemble. Theoretically easy, but I personally find desoldering LEDs to be pretty annoying and difficult.
I'm sure there are many members who would be willing to swap it out for a fee though.
Also, the in switch LEDs are easier to solder/desolder I think because they are through hole, rather than SMD (which is what the side LEDs are).

First of all somebody mentioned tits. Which are good. And AFAIK all tits are ergonomically designed.
As for keyboards, Viper and Eagle are pretty sweet.
Those GON's are totally sweet. In fact, I think I have to say they are in fact "schweet".
And the HHKB Pro 2 Type-S is by far the best keyboard in the world. Although you really have to try the others to understand this fact.
So - if money is no object, you should get them all. Get a GON, a Poker 2, and an HHKB. Probably should order a Viper and Eagle too. Eventually however, you will sell off all the MX keyboards, and just keep the HHKB. You could save yourself the money and just get the HHKB right now and be done with it. But you won't. And why should you? You are rich and sexy.
Lol im really sorry for saying this and I'll probably get alot of hate but those ibm keyboards don't really please me at all. Maybe its cause I'm a noob. Right now I've been real interested in the GON nerd 60%..just cant decide color of my leds for side and in switch =(

Would my Red Duck Mini V1 Mark 5 modded by ListoKei be in the running as a damn sexy board? The chrome plated weights really add something else. Damn I wish I had a good camera.

1: Model F Space-Unsaver (but mostly impossible to find)
2: AT Model F (not that hard to find, nice layout, nice size, layout can be modified to near ansi)
3: Model F122 (but probably quite big for gaming, so better with 1 or 2, but the layout is amazing by default, just very big so not very friendly for the mouse)
4: If you don't get a model F you better remove the word *best* from your criteria :p

In-switch LEDs you can get SIP sockets put in the switches and very easily change out the LEDs for different colour ones (without soldering).

The wait is worth it if this is your endgame keyboard. Sure it will take 2 months, but you'll me moaning to yourself 2 months after you settled for a lesser keyboard thinking that you could have had the board of your dreams at that moment anyway.

Exactly! It's worth it! :) if you have more to spend then get a poker 2 to hold you over! Hehe the GON will be worth it man.
If you are like most people here, and you really want it. All that will happen is that you will get another keyboard for now, and will eventually buy it anyway. Maybe you can try and get by on a 10 dollar keyboard in the meantime. It will be a pain though XD.Very good advice here.
All joking aside though. I would personally want to try out different switches and get a really good idea of what I like and what I do not like before I would spend this kind of money. I have been through at least 5 different keyboards (there is no substitute for owning them and using them on a daily basis) before I found what I really like more than anything else. When I started using mechanical keyboards I was convinced that I would prefer the heavier/stiffer keys. As it turns out, that is not anywhere close to being true.
Another thing you need to really think about when buying 60% keyboards is the layout. You would not be the first one to buy a 60% thinking that it looks cool, only to find out that the layout does not work for you. Personally I love the way 60% keyboards look, but would never use one as my main keyboard at home or at work.
I'm more of the guy that cares more about looks than practicality/comfort. If I like what I see..I just want it.
I'm trying to look for a cheap 60% topre keyboard to hold me over for the wait of the GON and then I'll have a topre and cherry mx =). In case nothing comes up i'll probably just get a poker 2. So just in case anyone is selling theirs just lemme know.

Haha, I did that a few years ago. Only now, after 6+ years is that rig showing its age. I'd say a good investment.Heh, you remind me of myself when I was new to mechs. :] Except I had a lot less money lolol.
hehe yeah I went on an all out PC craze recently. I probably spent almost 4K-5k on my whole pc rig already.. Now I just need to buy an awesome keyboard..or 2 lol
Would that mean if i ordered my GON...I'd have to desolder the LED and then solder these SIPs?

More prosaically, you must have some sort of budget. Is it $60? $200? $600? $2000? $6,000?
yup around 600
I've found no topre keyboards for cheap =( and I still havent put in my order for GON..still can't decide on things

No Topre keyboards are cheap, but you won't be spending more than 400 or 500 on it. Topre offers much less customizibility.
Do you have any friends with mechanical keyboards, or have access to them anywhere (Fry's, Best Buy, other electronics stores - although these will not carry rarer switches such as Clears, Greens, Topres, etc.)? We can sit here throwing nice keyboards at you left and right, but at the end of the day, it'd be best if you can try out a layout or a keyswitch before you buy.

Can anybody link me to a place I can get my hands on a Ducky Mini ISO?
What I am really looking for is a layout similar to the HHKB with the Backspace/Delete Key right above the Enter/Return key... and this Ducky Mini ISO has a nice big key there! I'd like to try it out and have a 60% (or smaller) Cherry MX board (I have my HHKB x 2 but need something to tweak... not much more I can do w/ my HHKB....)

Or I was thinking white in switch leds then just add these plastic caps (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/led-color-change) to change color? Do any of you guys use these?

Wait ... why are these colors representative of Miami?
There is the famous Art Deco Historic District fronting Miami Beach where many Art Deco-style houses have bright colours, some of the most notable being in various hues of pink and cyan.
The Miami Vice logo is obviously a reference to that district, both by using those colours and by using that Art Deco font.
