As you all know this year GON won the Deskthority Awards 2014 - Best keyboard company or brand 2014
GON told me that he wants to thank the people who supported him by offering a limited edition of the NerD TKL PCB.
What is so special about this limited edition ?
This PCB will come with SMT soldered diodes and resistors(both backlight LED's and side LED's) at the price of only $60 if there is demand for more than 30 PCB's.
Also the PCB will have a special logo printed for the DTA 2014 :thumb:
At the prince of the normal PCB you get a limited edition and save 35$ at the same time (this is the cost for optional soldering) :cool:

Maybe you don't know but GON published the specs for his PCB's so anyone with CAD skills can design a case, acrylic, wood, aluminum. I lack those skills otherwise I would have done that already :cool:
This PCB supports also Bluetooth, the module is available for extra $50 (will update also the OP with this info). Bluetooth is supported only by Crystal Case.

We are talking here about premium quality PCB's, with very interesting features like the side LED's. The GH60 doesn't even support LED's without an extra module. I know all PCB's look the same but after solder pads start falling and solder is not sticking to them you understand why some cost 30$ and other 60$.
There's also the fact that the keyprogramming GUI (NerdyGUI) is super intuitive and incredibly fast, plus GON seems to be really responsive when you have any questions or need help with his products!

NerdyGUI is super fast and super safe. Just type keys you want on the keymap and pick the LED modes you want, then one-click and then the board is good to go (flashed, it seems, in less than one-second).
The first time I used it, I thought the GUI was not working properly because it was so fast and easy!

As far as it goes to programming:
For example GH60 uses the TMK firmware, this firmware is very powerful with a lot of cool options, but at the same time you need to edit mapping files and compile and flash the firmware in the controller.
Other Korean boards use some older controllers where you need an ISP programmer (that is an extra hardware) to load the new firmware after you compile it.
ps2avr based boards like the faceU/W are a little easier to program, you have a flash based web interface where you create the hex file with the new mapping and after that you flash it on to the board, or there is also a command line which is easy to use.
But none as easy to use as the NerDy GUI, at least from my experience, other users might have a different opinion.

Great, sounds like the GON TKL is a great build for beginners.
I'm in for one! I've always wanted a GON and the limited edition is super appealing.
An acrylic case would make it a perfect budget build.

Love the idea of this PCB/deal to be included for the assembled TKLs on his website!I'm sure you can bundle the PCB with a case from his website and assembly services. The PCB will be available as an item on his site, I don't see a problem in making a full TKL :thumb:

This might be a silly question but um... does this PCB have Filco-style mounts to use with a Filco case (including the Filco/ONI Tex case)?I'm afraid it doesn't fit Filco cases :( In the OP there is a list with the supported cases. It would have been nice to have that compatibility, but GON has really cool cases :cool:

GON said that the delays with the CNC are solved now and he also made a healthy supply of CNC'd parts so it's OKHe talked to me this morning about it. I was supposed to get mine next week but apparently he changed something about the hhkb housing. But thank you DanielT for setting this up!

i just went to purchase the limited run PCB from the site and i got this message on the payment page?

i'm not sure if this is the problem but I set the pricing to won currency because i'll have to exchange currency's either way and my exchange was better to won but for some reason now i can't find the drop down menu to switch if back to USD?
Nevermind, turns out i have to use Chrome instead of FF for some reason. although now i'm having the issue of not being able to change the currency from USD to WON because it saves me almost a full $10, can someone who can see the currency thing take a screenshot for me? i can't for the life of me find the button again, i could have sworn it was in the top right.

Asking GON to solder the side LEDs was a smart move regarding my soldering skills and experience hahaha
On one side, you will be able to pick any color you like. My choice (white color) is probably not the funkiest.
