Hello, we have been able to get a source to run another gateron switch group buy, and as far as we know we can get any color we like. To see how many people would like to order, please fill out the interest check below;

After seeing how great gaterons are, we have decided to have our own run, and as far as we know, MOQ is not a problem and will come at around .16-.18 per switch (not 100% confirmed, but suggested by contact), if there's any other questions or anything related to the possibility of another gateron group buy, please post here or add a comment on to the google form at the bottom. Thank you!
Heres some current numbers, we need around 100k before it's feasible to do a group buy (not an MOQ just a point to aim for) anyway heres the numbers;

What issues did the last one have? IIRC it went really well, were there any quality issues?

Who is we? Who will handle shipping etc? Does this involve the previous group who ran this GB??

Some switchtops caused the keycap to catch on. I have no need for any new switches but I would be interested in some clear switchtops.

We includes me, and a person outside of geekhack who are dealing with gateron directly, who will then send the switches to me (justify) to sort and ship the switches.
This groupbuy is running without the help from the previous people who ran the first gateron groupbuy. Entirely different people :).

The switches would be shipped to UK, sorted then posted within 3-4 days, we also arent bound to MOQs afaik so it could be even faster. Shipping would be fast too and we have more shipping options to choose from. The prices arent solid right now but we might be able to get them cheaper, watch this space :thumb:

So how is the moq not a problem for you guys? Did the factory change their requirements or are you just buying up to MOQ immediately?

We are looking into it, ill update you on tops later, ill add in a question in the IC form for it, just incase :)

we're buying from a distribution center as far as I know, we aren't dealing with factory. It might actually work out 1-2c cheaper than your group buy with no MOQ :)

just the slight problem of some keycap types being stuck on the switch top, probably due to inconsistent quality control

Probably not much we can do about that unless they have changed their methods of QC :-X

id take a bunch .. form filled .. for 1000 switches / since i missed the last run .. hope the 100k mark happens

@justify: Can you confirm that these are Gateron KS-3 with translucent white casings like in the previous group buy?
I was pleasantly surprised with the (four!) Gateron Browns I got so I would like some more for a keyboard.
I am also interested in a couple each of Yellow and Red to collect each type. :)

I'm definitely in for this. I will desolder my K70, LEDs and all, for some gateron clears. Without frilly keycaps, I don't anticipate any sticking problems, and the chance to have even lighter springs, less play in the stems, and smoother operation? With the delicious floating keys, on a 100% board, with a heavy, aluminum, single-piece face plate? Mein gott!
It may not be the "in" thing right now, but I slightly favor function over form, and that's about as close to the apex as you can get, provided you don't intend to swap switches often, without doing it custom from the ground up. And I've not designed a custom PCB. Yet.

It might be hard, but we are very near 1/10th of the way there in terms of interest, so its not totally impossible :thumb:

Its not an MOQ, same reason why I dont start a group buy and start individual orders right now, when I can wait until theres lots of interest then do one buy from the source. we just need a high figure before I think its good to place one order, hope that makes sense :) It would be cool if some vendors could reach out and get some big orders in, makes it easier for us to make the figure I mentioned :thumb:

I'd say you might have to see how much lower your distributor will do that's still feasible

We can go as high or as low as we want, but our goal is around 100k :)

Nope! this is my first one. I will be getting samples from our distributor soon, so you can see that we are taking this just as seriously as you are. Everyone has to start somewhere!

Clear tops should be available, as they are very popular according to the spreadsheet, we will see what our disti gives us in the sample package. Pics of the samples will be here as soon as I get them :thumb:

I got a direct answer from Gateron Sales part last month.
The MOQ was 5K-10K (5,000 - 10,000 pcs) for each switch, if I read the Arabian numbers correctly.
But it may depend on stock qty.
I can check it again, if you guys want. ;)

Yeah I just bought a 110 pack from the Massdrop. No real reason to participate in this anymore.

Apart from the minimum 35 dollar order per switch type, and the built-in 50% markup over taobao and nearly a full 100% of what was previously offered here. I actually ordered in that drop because this looks dead, but I still want every switch I put in for here.

Let's do it, guys! I sadly missed the last amazing GB and since spent way more than I needed to on Massdrop just to sample these lovely Gaterons. Another GB for such a great price would be amazing!
EDIT: I'm assuming with the huge amount of switches ordered with the last group buy and with some people seeming skeptical of justify being able to deliver due to GB inexperience (I guess?), interest in this has dwindled?

You can buy them from TaoBao at 21c USD. If the price is as high as 18c, you may as well buy them off TaoBao and get them faster.
