I'm definitely in for this. I will desolder my K70, LEDs and all, for some gateron clears. Without frilly keycaps, I don't anticipate any sticking problems, and the chance to have even lighter springs, less play in the stems, and smoother operation? With the delicious floating keys, on a 100% board, with a heavy, aluminum, single-piece face plate? Mein gott!
It may not be the "in" thing right now, but I slightly favor function over form, and that's about as close to the apex as you can get, provided you don't intend to swap switches often, without doing it custom from the ground up. And I've not designed a custom PCB. Yet.
