Title: The **** is wrong with society?
Post by: nubbinator on Tue, 15 December 2015, 21:51:04: I was at a nut house today for work and there's always a radio going at these places. This ****ing song came on the radio:

The announcer talked about it being an awesome song, but, seriously, it is the most disheartening Christmas song I have ever heard. I'd rather listen to Simply Having a Wondeful Christmas Time, Holly Jolly Christmas, Christmas Shoes, any Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas song, I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, Last Christmas, and so on on repeat than hear that song. It full on killed my Christmas boner.

Text communication is the most convenient, least time consuming, and endearing form of exchange..

We're doing it all the time on the Geekhack..

And as for advertising, many of the kids are now wise to it... They know what's up...

By the time they achieve economic freedom, they'll know that samsung and Bailey isn't the only phone and booze out there.

So, really there's no harm in this commercialism..

For realz.. The world is fundamentally good, because it does anything and everything to promote growth..

Despite the limits of that ideology, the premise and goals are correct.

There exist selfish individuals.. many of them make large decisions on our behalf.

But, no matter what they themselves THINK they've accomplished or accumulated.. they eat 3 meals, sleep and poop like the rest of us.. and when come age 70, they die as we do.

The balance of decision making and economic power is converged for the sole purpose of reduced communication costs..

Whatever selfish endeavors and thinking an individual may possess, does not alter the reality that we are intradependent as humans and interdependent as existences within 1 universe.

Our mental models of the world is through segments, we understand through derivatives and limits.

However, that disconnect is only a placeholder for a connected universe which currently exceeds our capacity.

I'm a crotchety old person myself..

I still thnk the song's fine..

I think perhaps I'm more willing to consider differing perspectives, while most other old peeps are just stuck in their 1 track.
