Thanks For The Help

Thanks, guys, for your passive assistance last week.

My Logitech G15's left "Ctrl" key is finally not registering 100% of the time. I have been telling myself for about a year that when this keyboard finally starts to quit, I would treat myself to a really nice keyboard. I'm 100% sure that I'm preaching to the choir, but with the amount of time I spend in front of a computer at both work and here at home, I feel a few hundred dollars, if necessary, is quite reasonable.

After digging up as much information as I could about the Cherry switches (my final decision was with which specific switch to go), I ended up choosing the Cherry Blue mechanism. They seem to be a nice, middle-ground switch for both gaming and typing (I do TONS of both). So, I ended up ordering the quite snazzy looking Filco Majestouch Tenkeyless Tactile Click "Otaku" from EliteKeyboards. It should be here this coming Tuesday. I'm pretty excited to get it.

I feel I'm at the beginning of a dangerous road. I have already started thinking about picking up another Filco to use at work (Code Monkey like Tab and Mt. Dew!) if I find myself really enjoying this purchase. The HHKB is also on the list of potential work keyboards. I have wanted one since I saw it. I ran across one on the Net a year or so back and was instantly smitten. I finally found out what it was while researching mechanical keyboards last week. The layout is intriguing. And they key texture is pretty good from what I've read. I am also in an office environment; that makes typing noise a concern. The Cherry Blue switches would be out of the question.

Anyway, just wanted to drop off my thanks for the quality information that you guys provide. I'm not very good at posting anywhere but a few select forums, but I expect to keep this one on my list of forums to lurk due to the quality content.

oh yes!! you are at the beginning of a dangerous road,
to me i believe brown cherrys seem to be the best middle ground for gaming and typing. however you shouldnt have any issues with the blues anyways your're gonna find yourself opening wordpad just for the sake of typing.. :)

I know, it's crazy how well versed most of the members here are. That's a niche forum for you I suppose.

I'm anxious to stop by my Dad's office sometime soon now. After reading thread after thread here, I've come to appreciate the variety of good keyboards out there. I know for a fact he had a programmable mechanical board that I think got tossed into a closet somewhere at his office. I really want to find out what it is and take it if nobody lays claim to it.

I thought I was happy with my Model M.   Then I found GeekHack.

"Oh, good.  Other people who are as picky about their keyboards as I am!"

Eleven keyboards later... including a Ricercar SPOS, a 104-key Filco w/Blues, and my  latest purchase, two tenkeyless Filcos w/Browns...

I'm of the opinion that you should spend good money to get quality on things that you spend a lot of time in/on.  I have an expensive bed (Tempur-Pedic), expensive office chair at work and home (Steelcase LEAP), and expensive keyboards (Filco).  My fingers make my living - why not give them the very best?

Ah, um, don't you mean "passive aggression?"
I trolled Geekhack and all I got was an eponymous SPOS.
