Accidentally hit a jug of water I had near the computer and BOOM - water everywhere, especially on my 104 MJ2. Quickly unplugged it, sprayed it dry with some compressed air and still working perfectly.

How long did you wait for it to dry? Don't want any left over water seeping into the switches or the controller.

True, I only waited about 10 mins tops after blowing everything out. Hopefully that's enough.. no problems so far.

That's not nearly enough.  It's good to drain water, and to unplug.  But there's definitely moisture still in the switches after 10 minutes.  Probably true after 24 hours as well.  I'd definitely recommend putting the keyboard in a bag with rice or other dessicants when you're not using it.  Likely the electronics are fine, but you wont know until later if the contacts/wires/springs are rusting.

But yeah, you dodged a bullet.  Good job!  Now keep that jug of water further away

Really, on a keyboard without any fancy gadgets built into it, like the Filcos, the only thing that should be bad to shortcircuit is the controller itself. Everything else is sort of designed to be shortcircuited =P This should make keyboards sort of tough to kill that way. I don't say it is the case only that I would be disappointed if it killed one. Pouring liquids into them could have other nasty effects though (corrosion, stickiness, smell, mold, I-dont-know-what).

Yeah.  There's two dangers - the immediate shorting, which is bad but generally you can avoid if you unplug quickly.  But then the water is trapped in there and does not evaporate quickly, so you get secondary damage.

Yes, I've had a lot of experience with water-damaged electronics.  I've actually washed an iphone in the washing machine, full cycle.  I wrapped it in a towel, sent it through the dryer a few times, and it worked just fine - even the LCD.  That was pretty surprising.

You just want to dry that thing out well.  I'd actually recommend using one of those "sneaker" drying racks in the dryer (if you have one), and putting it through there a few times.  The sneaker rack holds the item in the middle of the dryer w/o letting it tumble around.  Without that, rice & other desiccants are good.

If you can, just disassemble the case so that the guts are exposed and let it dry out overnight. I dunno if I have the balls to put a keyboard in the dryer though lmao
