I am the proud owner of an Apple Extended Keyboard II, that I picked up last Thursday.
I'm waiting for an ADB to USB adapter to arrive in the mail.
Today I noticed the space bar was sticking. I pulled it off, and discovered that there are two small square foam pads on the right and left side of the space bar right under where the stabilizers snap in. Both pads had disintegrated, but the one on the right exposed the double-sided tape used to stick it to the keyboard and the stabilizer was sticking to that piece of tape.
A Q-Tip and some Windex and now the space bar no longer sticks.
What was the purpose of the foam? Sound dampening? Key fell?
Should I replace the foam, or just leave it as-is?
