Build Video

Intro

Hello everyone, Baucts here looking to make tools for your work spaces. I started designing Finn over 8 months ago. Initially I wanted to make it as a one off but figured it wouldn't hurt to try to run it. This will be my first project, a 60% gasket mount keyboard with symmetrical XT columns. Inspiration comes from Singa’s Kohaku and Ori-Club boards. The name comes from Finn from Adventure Time. There are really no design correlations between this board and the character from the show, Adventure Time is just my favorite cartoon.

I really like the rough outline you have, the side profiles are really striking on the renders. Do you have an idea of what materials for the bottom you are going to offer? I notice a PC bottom in one of the renders and that would be a really cool option to have in the final product.

Absolutely LOVE the layout and the side profile is super unique. Only thing I’d advise is ditching the long feet and opting for bumpons instead. Much cleaner and less risk of it sounding “thuddy” GLWIC!

Thank you. For the bottom case, the standard will be black anodized aluminum. I still provided some renders of the bottom in polycarbonate because the pcb will have under glow which will be able to shine through the back, side, and the little gaps in the front.

Thank for the feedback, i am still debating on whether i should use the custom long feet or bumpons. with the custom feet I do think that is looks cleaner since the entire design language is "smooth". When I get a proto from the manu ill be able to test the long feet vs bumpons and will report on my findings, thank for letting me know about this  :thumb:

This is an amazing layout. Any chance of a cherry lip? GLWIC!

probably wont add a cherry lip. i experimented with adding it and since the sides are curved from the top profile it doesnt fit as well
