GMK Combobreaker

A set inspired by the 80s, 90s, gaming and DCS Windbreaker (color use with permission from Pwade)

This set draws on its bold colorway and novelties to capture the spirit of arcade culture. The teal, purple, and pink tones recall neon windbreakers, patterned arcade carpets, and the flicker of CRT screens, while the novelties pay direct homage to one of my favorite games of the late ’80s and early ’90s. I hope you all like this as much as I do!

Cool concept!

I think the novelties could use a little work as they don't look particularly cohesive. Kitting-wise, for a vintage-inspired set I would be inclined to remove the 40s keys (or even just the accents) and include the shinethroughs.

Love the palette: fun and colorful, but still fairly understated. I especially enjoy the SF novelties. I'll definitely be following this set's progress.

Some thoughts on the kitting:

Please consider including R3 PgUp, R4 PgDn for 65%/75% support in base.
Accent arrows would also be nice to see in extension or novelties.
On the other hand, you don't really need two R4 1u Fn keys, so one can be dropped.
I'd also move ISO-UK–specific keys to extensions and leave just terminal ISO in base.
Finally, it's probably unnecessary to include both accented and non-accented R2 1u Esc, R3 1.5u Enter variants for 40s support; consider sticking to just one and dropping the other to save on key count.

Agreed. Wonder why the red and blue of the classic arcade cabinet buttons sees no use. Really love the SF novelties

I thought about this - but it just looked WAY too similar to mictlan - even with a dark blue base. I'll give this some more thought though.

Love the beige/bright colors combo concept definitely a buy for me! Stick with this imo. I actually thought the exact same thing as i read above comment about doing black or dark blue...instantly meh just get mictlan lol. Mictlan getting an R2 soon too i think. Best of luck with the IC!

you just lowkey cooked a great idea, although i agree with orin, 1 project a time,
windbreaker on beige will be nice to see before something like XMI/21KB steals it and does it in PBT.

100% definitely stick with beige imo.

Edit: Just noticed this — consider adding another R4 1u SF novelty (preferably in purple) so that we can fill out a whole 65% right column with different icon novelties. Something like a kick icon would work great.
Also, 1u Shift in extensions isn't useful unless 2u Shift is included too. These two keys are used together for GK64-style 60% layouts, so either add the missing 2u Shift or drop the 1u one.

Oh hell yeah Im down for this. Missed out on GMK Rubrehose but I feel like I like this one more. I have my beige Class65 V3 on the way to replace my V1 of the same board so I think Ill throw these on my v1 and move my current set, GMK Analog Dreams, over to the V3.
