Strange keys in G80

Hi,

I just bought a G80-3000LSC, as my first mechanical keyboard. But I noticed some really odd things:

• Some keys are nonclicky, especially the v key
• Some keys feel different, less noisy (both Enter, Backspace, Numpad+)

I don't know whether that's normal for this kind of keyboard, I can try recording videos to demostrate the issue. Is this normal for this keyboard or did I get a faulty one? In the latter case I'd return it.

Apart from that, I have to admit that I like the look of the keyboard and I really like the sound. Now if only all keys were clicky...

I assume you have a keyboard with blues.  It might take some "breaking-in" to get the clickiness right on all your keys.  The blue switch is somewhat complex, and the slider that creates the clicking sound might need to loosen up a little.  Also, blues can be susceptible to dust, even on new keyboards.  Taking and air duster and blowing out the inside of the switch might help, too.

This.  The Cherry stabilizer system is a little different than the ones typically used in other keyboards.  Many people prefer it, but it can cause a slight change in keyfeel and sound.  I don't notice it on my Cherry brown 'boards, but I can see where it might make a difference on a Cherry blue 'board, though.

Thanks for your answers. So my second problem is probably explained. I'm coming from a membrane board where all keys felt the same. I'll try to "fix" the v key and keep you up to date whether that issue went away. I really hope it is just some "breaking-in", neccessary. I guess I'll be typing v like mad the next days.

Might be some dust in the V key. If you have a can of compressed air:

* Take off keycap
* Push stem down with a ballpen or something while spraying compressed air into the switch (make sure to be quite far away, you don't want moisture in the switch)

the switch mechanism in the blue stem is probably stuck, do tricks to unstick it, some have said compressed air right into the blue stem helps.

If you find that the big keys with stabilizers feel different, make sure the stabilizers are attached. Rock the keys back and forth into the board to make sure the stabilizers are attached to the board, they feel nicer when the stabilizers are making full 100% contact.

Sounds like an anomaly to me. My G80-3000 was actually very nice and no problems. Maybe shipping damage?
