should I wash these clear switches before using them?

So I am in the processing of unsoldering the clear switches from that cherry board deal.

The switches are yellow in some areas and I was wondering if I should wash them or not before using them.

Simply: No.

Washing switches will remove the grease, and possibly even corrode the springs. You'd ruin the switches.

If they are yellowed i would assume that washing them wouldn't really do much.

At the same time though if you are just washing the clear portion of the switch only i don't see how it could hurt. Maybe just a hot water rinse?

Not all keyboards can be washed. They are made so cheap that you can throw it away when it's dirty

I wouldn't run the chance of loosing or wasting them about this, in the end, the keycap is what matters esthetically right? if the switch works fine I don't see a reason for taking the risk.
Before doing something directly to the switches, ask and search around for a right way to do it, don't rush into water.
