Filco Majestouch tenkeyless cherry Browns. Problem
« on: Fri, 19 August 2011, 21:43:26 »
My 7 Month old son + a glass of water that I left to close to my poor Filco is the problem. Really the keyboard seems fine after I pull the keys off and dried out the channels. I took a can of air to it after I ran some Q - tips around to soak up the remaining moisture.  The 9 key will intermittently just act like it is stuck in the pressed down position. If I press the 9 key it stops but then it will start up at a later time on it' s own. I do not even have to touch the darn key. Is this just a case of a switch needing to be replaced? Anyone know a good place to pick up Filco cherry brown switches easily. Anyone have other ideas I can try?

quite possible there's water in the switch, I concur w/ Ripster's advice.  Replacing the switch is likely the sure fix but not necessarily necessary.  removing that particular keycap, pushing down the stem, and blowing around it w/ compressed air may help too.
Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)
