« on: Wed, 18 January 2012, 19:05:16 »
hello, looking to pick up my first mechanical keyboard, did some reading and looks like mx brown would suit me well in regards to gaming and noise
i was trying to decide between the majestouch 2 or ducky shine, could anyone please help me in my decision? any other suggestions would be great too, would like it to include a numpad/window key and backlit
thanks

I'd recommend a WASD keyboard. I just got mine yesterday and I've already fallen in love with it. Plus it's under your budget, but it's not backlit

I'd go for WASD if I were you. Same pricerange, fully custom layout, etc. The stabilizers are also greased, which is nice.

I have one in browns and it's awesome.

Edit: beat to it!

majestouch 2 is a more respected keyboard i feel, not to mention i really wouldn't want a full size keyboard.

I don't have white keys that I hit often (i.e. I use them as function row). But even if they get dirty, you can pop them off so easily and just give them a wash. Black keys don't get all dirty, but you can sometimes see it get grimy and oily.

Yeah WASD is a good option, with custom layouts (color and legends).

If you want backlighting then you want Ducky Shine. Had I known about WASD I would of gone with them instead of my Filco Majestouch2. If you want some comments on the Filco, Its a solid board, but nothing "special" about it.

I did get the o-rings installed, it make a huge difference in noise if you bottom out your keys. If you can touch type then you shouldn't need them

touch typing means: ability to type without looking at the keys (just relying on the feeling of touch)

It has nothing to do with bottoming out and o-rings.

I would say WASD if you are here in the states and Filco/Leopold from Europe.

I just bought my 4th WASD in browns with the intentions of returning the reds... But I'm afraid I just can't decide which one I like the best so I will likely keep them both.  lol

Makes me jealous.  I've only ever had an old Compaq 11800 when it comes to Browns; I'd love to try out a newer board.
