Why do all cherry G80 boards have a clear switch?
« on: Wed, 11 April 2012, 22:03:02 »
Every single G80 board I've taken apart to harvest for parts has always contained a 1 clear steam (at least). The blank key above the F12 always contains a clear stem even if all the other stems are brown. Why is this? Does this actually serve a purpose or did cherry do it for the lulz?

Blank key above F12? The only G80 I have is the 3000, which has a green switch in the space bar. That's the only pseudo-oddity.
Risen from the dead for a model F.

Wyse buy colors were GSY for the dark grey, GBA for the light grey, and BBI for the fonts.

I like to swap the clear stem and spring with the gray spring and stem under the space bar.

I have no idea what the clear stem is for otherwise.

Are you familiar with Cherry's product code schema?

I'm going to go with "for the lulz".
